The surgical fastener is implanted into a predrilled hole in the bone and the legs are expanded by pulling a slidable pin with a flared distal end. The pin includes a breakaway notch and fins. The fastener may be fabricated from resorbable material and may be implanted arthroscopically.

An instrument for applying an orthopedic fastener activated by a setting pin includes a member for abutting the fastener, a member for grasping the setting pin, and means for moving said members relative to each other. The instrument may be used endoscopically in conjunction with a cannula. An endoscopic drilling member is provided for deployment through the cannula to create a hole for emplacement of the fastener into bone or hard tissue.

This is a device for dispersing a vapor, such as a deodorant or fragrant vapor, into the air when a movable element, such as the actuation arm of a flush toilet, is moved from a usual `at rest` position. A switch responsive to movement of the movable element from its `at rest` position closes a circuit which energizes an electrically actuated means, such as a motor or a solenoid operated lever, which when actuated opens the valve of a container from which a vapor of a deodorant or fragrance is dispersed under pressure. The device is particularly adapted for dispersing a deodorant into the air in a bathroom or lavatory when the toilet therein is flushed.

An improved hair roller is described which is adapted to be expanded from a substantially flat configuration into an elongated cylindrically shaped body which is substantially resistant to bending and buckling. The hair roller includes first and second hinge coupled, flexible planar shaped roller members each having substantially the same cross sectional configuration and dimensions. An edge of each roller member is hinge coupled to a surface of the other roller member and the hinge coupled members are resiliently deflectable into a body having a generally cylindrical configuration. Fastener means are provided for fastening the body in the cylindrical configuration.
