Sweet and sour lubricant feeds are block and continuous processed to produce lubricant basestocks. Total liquid product yields at a desired pour point are maintained for catalytic dewaxing of both sweet and sour conditions. The desired pour point is achieved for both the sweet and sour feeds by varying the catalytic dewaxing reaction temperature as a function of sulfur content entering the reactor.

A coextruded, heat-sealable film structure includes a core layer of a thermoplastic polymer having a first side and a second side. A functional layer which is printable, sealable, or can be laminated or is treatable for printing, sealing, or laminating is on the first side of the core layer. A heat-sealable layer is on the second side of the core layer. The heat-sealable layer is composed of a thermoplastic polymer and an amount of a slip system, based upon the entire weight of the heat-sealable layer, sufficient to reduce the coefficient of friction and improve the slip performance of the film structure. The slip system is composed of a silicone gum and at least one antiblocking agent. The film structure exhibits the desirable combination of improved converting performance and excellent machinability performance.

Lamination grade coextruded heat-sealable film

An embossable, multilayer, polyolefin film comprising a core layer comprising a polyolefin and an appearance enhancing agent selected from the group consisting of coloring agents, phosphorescence producing agents, reflective agents, and mixtures thereof, wherein the core layer comprises the interior of the film; and an embossable layer exterior to and on one side of the core layer, the embossable layer comprising an olefin polymer, and being particularly suitable for embossing and subsequently receiving a metal layer thereon.

A metallized, multilayer film suitable for packaging applications is provided which comprises a first skin layer comprising a thermoplastic selected from the group consisting of high density polyethylene, ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer, medium density polyethylene, linear low density polyethylene, ethylene-propylene-butylene terpolymer, propylene-butylene copolymer, and amorphous polyamide, a metallized layer adjacent to the first skin layer, and a core layer comprising high crystallinity polypropylene homopolymer with an intermolecular stereoregularity greater than 93%. Additionally, low density polyethylene, EMA, EVA, or EAA may be extrusion laminated to the metallized side of the metallized, multilayer film at a web tension sufficient to prevent metal crazing of the vacuum deposited aluminum layer. A method for making the film is also provided.

A thermoplastic film comprising a core layer comprising a polyolefin wherein the core layer comprises the interior of the film; a first transition layer comprising a polyolefin and a silicone additive, wherein the first transition layer is exterior to the core layer; and a first skin layer comprising a polyolefin wherein the first skin layer is exterior to the first transition layer and the core layer.

Method for preparing sealable films with siloxane additives

An embossed, cast polyolefin film or an embossed, oriented polyolefin film includes: (a) a core layer including a propylene polymer; (b) an embossed outer layer on one side of the core layer, the embossed outer layer including an olefin polymer capable of being embossed; and (c) an additional outer layer on a side of the core layer opposite to the embossed outer layer, the additional outer layer including an olefin polymer. The embossed film can then be metallized to produce a shiny, metallic film having a prismatic or holographic appearance.

Multilayer metallized polyolefin film structures having improved barrier properties and reduced water vapor transmission and oxygen transmission properties are provided. The film structures include a polyolefin substrate having a first and second side, a metal layer adjacent to the first side of the substrate and substantially coextensive therewith and a coating layer adjacent to the metal layer and substantially coextensive therewith. The coating layer includes a coating selected from the group consisting of polyvinylidene chloride, polyvinyl alcohol and acrylic coating.

Multilayer polymeric film

A metallized multilayer film structure includes a core layer of a film-forming polyolefin having a first side and a second side. A metal receiving skin layer may be disposed on the first side of the core layer. A metal layer may be deposited on the surface of the metal receiving skin layer opposite the core layer. A topcoat layer may be disposed on the surface of the metal layer opposite the metal receiving skin layer. A polymer skin layer may be disposed on the second side of the core layer. The film structure may optionally include one or more tie layers. The film structure may also optionally include a primer layer interposed between the topcoat layer and the metal layer. The present metallized multilayer film structure may be suitable for use as a monoweb to package product as opposed to being used in a lamination. The film structure exhibits superior scratch resistance and resistance to other types of damage. The film structure may be directly surface printed and then used to directly package product.

Multilayer films are contemplated. Specifically, films containing 3, 4, 5, 6 or more layers. Anti-block will be included in a tie layer, contiguous to a skin layer and a core layer. The film may contain one or two skin layers. If there are two tie layers, the anti-block may be found in one or both. Metallized films made from the multilayer films are also contemplated. Use of the multilayer films in packaging, imaging, or labeling, is further contemplated.

The invention discloses methods of improving blocking resistant properties and reducing the coefficient of friction of a multilayer film comprising providing at least one layer of an ethylene-propylene impact copolymer having from about 3% to about 30% by weight ethylene, wherein said copolymer has no more than two peaks in the melting curve within the range from about 110&deg; C. to about 165&deg; C., and wherein said layer is non-heat sealable, to a multilayer film having a core layer comprising polypropylene, high density polyethylene (HDPE) or linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE), whereby anti-blocking and coefficient of friction characteristics of said film is improved without necessity of adding an antiblock or slip agent.

An embossed, cast polyolefin film or an embossed, oriented polyolefin film comprises: (a) a core layer comprising a propylene polymer; (b) an embossed outer layer on one side of the core layer, the embossed outer layer comprising an olefin polymer capable of being embossed; and (c) an additional outer layer on a side of the core layer opposite to the embossed outer layer, the additional outer layer comprising an olefin polymer. The embossed film can then be metallized to produce a shiny, metallic film having a prismatic or holographic appearance.

An oriented film combination of (a) a base layer of polypropylene at least one surface of which comprises a maleic acid anhydride modified polypropylene; and (b) on at least one surface, a skin layer of an amorphous polyamide or a blend of an amorphous polyamide and a semicrystalline polyamide.

High barrier film

A metallized oriented film combination having a propylene polymer substrate with a high density polyethylene skin layer on at least one side thereof and a thin metal layer deposited on the surface of the high density polyethylene.

Multilayer film with metallized surface

A metallized film combination of a polymer substrate at least one surface of which includes a maleic acid anhydride modified propylene homopolymer or copolymer, that at least one surface having a skin layer thereon of ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer and said skin layer having an aluminum layer directly thereon.
