A copolymer composition is disclosed with advantages for textile fibers, yarns, blended yarns, fabrics, and garments. The composition includes polyester copolymer, between about 4.5 and 5.5 percent adipic acid based on the amount of copolymer, between about 630 and 770 parts per million (ppm) of pentaerythritol based on the amount of copolymer, and between about 3.4 and 4.2 percent polyethylene glycol based on the amount of copolymer.

Polyester composition with improved dyeing properties

A copolymer composition is disclosed with advantages for textile fibers, yarns, blended yarns, fabrics, and garments. The composition includes polyester copolymer, between about 9.5 and 10.5 percent adipic acid based on the amount of copolymer, between about 630 and 770 parts per million (ppm) of pentaerythritol based on the amount of copolymer, and between about 3.4 and 4.2 percent polyethylene glycol based on the amount of copolymer.

A masterbatch is disclosed, along with associated methods, and biodegradable filaments, fibers, yarns and fabrics. The masterbatch includes 0.2 to 5 mass % CaCO, an aliphatic polyester with a repeat unit having from two to six carbons in the chain between ester groups, with the proviso that the 2 to 6 carbons in the chain do not include side chain carbons, and a carrier polymer selected from the group consisting of PET, nylon, other thermoplastic polymers, and combinations thereof.

IPA/polyester copolymer fiber

A method is disclosed for spinning polyester staple to produce dark dyeing yarns as compared to yarns having an otherwise similar composition. The method includes spinning polyester staple into yarn, in which the polyester includes between about 0.5 and 4 percent by weight of polyethylene glycol, into yarn in a rotor spinning machine at a rotor speed of between about 110,000 and 120,000 rpm and at a tension of between about 2.5 and 3.2 grams/tex. A resulting polyester fiber is also disclosed of between about 1.2 and 2.25 denier per filament, and that contains between about 0.5 and 4 percent by weight of polyethylene glycol, and with a fiber tenacity of 4.7 grams per denier or less.
