The system ( ) preferably includes a stator core frame support member ( ) and a generator stator core ( ) including a plurality of keybars ( ) positioned spaced-apart and extending along outer peripheral portions of the generator stator core ( ). The generator stator core ( ) is positioned to overlie the stator core frame support member ( ). The system ( ) further includes a core supporter ( ) connected to the stator core frame support member ( ) and positioned to contact the generator stator core ( ). The core supporter ( ) includes first ( ) and second ( ) core connectors ( ) for low tuning the natural frequency of a generator stator core ( ) and for stabilizing the power generation system during operation. Power generation system including an apparatus for low tuning a generator stator core upon attachment to a frame support and associated methods

A support system for an electric generator having a tapered spring bar connected between the stator core and stator frame, where the spring bar has a continuously tapered cross-sectional area along its length. The tapered cross-section provides a larger cross-sectional area at points having high bending moment and a smaller cross-sectional area at points having low bending moment. By eliminating material in areas of low bending force, a robust support system having increased flexibility is provided. The spring bar may further be formed from a plurality of thinner laminations, thereby providing the support system designer with an additional degree of flexibility for independently controlling the natural frequency of the supports in the radial and tangential directions.

Spring mounting for an electric generator

A compliant clamp (20) for a power generator and associated methods are provided (see FIG. 5). The clamp (20) preferably includes an end plate (18) mounted to an end of a generator stator core (10) and a core attaching member (15) connected to the generator stator core (10) and positioned to connect the generator stator core (10) to a frame (12). The core attaching member (15) preferably has at least an end portion (22) extending outwardly from the end plate (18). At least one spring member (25) is preferably mounted to the end portion (22) of the core attaching member (15) for springingly biasing the end plate (18) inwardly toward the generator core (10). The clamp (20) further includes at least one retaining member (23) mounted to the end portion (22) of the core attaching member (15) for retaining the spring member (25) on the end portion (22) of the core attaching member (15), a current shunt member (30) mounted to the end portion (22) of the core attaching member (15), having at least one portion abuttingly contacting the end plate (18), and having another portion abuttingly contacting the retaining member (23) to thereby provide a current shunt path from the retaining member (23) to the end plate (18), and at least one insulating member (26) mounted to the end portion (22) of the core attaching member (15) and positioned between the current shunt member (30) and the at least one spring member (25).
