An anaerobic chamber system to evaluate human enteric disease is described herein that can be used to test therapeutic components. In specific embodiments, the anaerobic chamber is used to determine the effect of one or more bacterial communities on ex vivo enteroid cultures. In one application, the anaerobic chamber system is used to determine the efficacy of therapeutic components in ameliorating human enteric disease using personalized medicine.

Engineering novel enteroid models for understanding human enteric disease

Embodiments of the disclosure encompass compositions and methods for the treatment of medical conditions in which increases in GLP-1 are beneficial to an individual. In specific embodiments, the disclosure concerns certain peptides that are capable of inducing GLP-1 production in an individual with a medical condition, such as type II diabetes or obesity. In other cases, an individual is not obese or overweight but is provided the peptide in an effort to reduce weight from fat.

Therapeutic for the prevention and/or treatment of weight gain and/or diabetes

The present invention provides for methods of screening for agents which delay the cell cycle and methods of delaying the cell cycle. Analogues of Era having arginine, histidine, or lysine at amino acid codon 17 are embodied by the present invention. Human and other homologs of bacterial Era amino acid and nucleic acid sequences are provided in the present invention. Vectors, host cells, protein preparations, cell cultures, and compositions comprising said analogue are also set forth in the present invention.
