One embodiment disclosed relates to an array of sensors for towed marine streamers. The array may include a first plurality of transducers of a first form configured to have a first polarity in electrical response to a change in an environmental condition and a second plurality of transducers of a second form coupled to the first plurality of transducers and configured to have a second polarity, opposite of the first polarity, in electrical response to the change in the environmental condition. The first plurality may be equal to the second plurality. The first plurality of transducers may be coupled to the second plurality of transducers in a linearly alternating fashion. The array may be coupled to a amplifier. The array may be included along a length of at least a portion of a marine streamer. Another embodiment disclosed relates to a method of acquiring sensor signals in a marine streamer being towed by a vessel during a seismic marine survey. Other embodiments, aspects and features are also disclosed.

Linear array of piezoelectric transducers for towed marine streamers

A marine seismic data acquisition system may include first and second containers deployable in a body of water. The first container includes a first seismic data acquisition channel capable of transducing seismic energy in the body of water having a first maximum amplitude, and the second container includes a second seismic data acquisition channel capable of transducing seismic energy in the body of water having a second maximum amplitude. The first seismic data acquisition channel is associated with at least a first seismic sensor, and the second seismic data acquisition channel is associated with at least a second seismic sensor. The second sensor corresponds to a same sensor type as the first seismic sensor, and the first maximum amplitude is higher than the second maximum amplitude.

Seismic data acquisition with extended dynamic range

Apparatus and techniques are disclosed relating to a two-axis sensing element. In various embodiments, a two-axis sensing element includes a mounting plate that includes a first pair of mounting slots oriented in a first direction and a second pair of mounting slots oriented in a second, different direction. Further, in various embodiments, the two-axis sensing element may include a first pair of bender elements and a second pair of bender elements. The first pair of bender elements may be mounted through the first pair of mounting slots such that the first pair of bender elements is oriented in the first direction and the second pair of bender elements may be mounted through the second pair of mounting slots such that the second pair of bender elements is oriented in the second, different direction. In various embodiments, the mounting plate may transect each of the bender elements into two cantilever portions.

Two-axis sensing element

Apparatus and techniques are disclosed relating to sensor housing and spacer carrier assemblies. In various embodiments, a spacer carrier provides a cavity through a body of the spacer carrier and a first alignment element positioned at a first end of the cavity. In some embodiments, a sensor housing is configured to be deployed within the cavity through the body of the spacer carrier. The sensor housing may include a housing body configured to receive a sensor and a second alignment element configured to interface with the first alignment element. In various embodiments, the first and second alignment elements are configured to maintain an orientation of the sensor housing within the cavity when the sensor housing is inserted into the spacer carrier.

Sensor receiver nulls and null steering. One example embodiment is method in which a direction from a sensor position to a noise source is determined. A coordinate rotation is applied to a first set of signal values, wherein each signal value of the first set of signal values is based on an output of a corresponding component of a three-component particle motion sensor at the sensor position. The applying generates a rotated set of signal values. The coordinate rotation comprises a coordinate rotation transforming a first set of coordinate axes to a second set of coordinate axes, wherein the first set of coordinate axes has each coordinate axis aligned with a corresponding component of the three-component particle motion sensor at the sensor position, and the second set of coordinate axes comprises a first axis pointed in a direction opposite the direction from the sensor position to the noise source.

Clamp and Bending Strain Relief (BSR) system and method are disclosed. One example of a system can include a clamp coupled to a cable. The clamp is configured to couple an apparatus to the cable while allowing the cable to pass continuously through the clamp. A BSR apparatus is coupled to the clamp and the cable by a housing.

At least some of the example embodiments are methods including measuring motion of a body by deflecting a first cantilever portion of a sensing element, and deflecting a second cantilever portion of a sensing element, the second cantilever element of the sensing element disposed opposite the first cantilever element. A first voltage having a first polarity is created across electrical leads responsive to the deflecting of the cantilever portions opposite the direction of the first acceleration of the body. The sensing element is supported by way of a mounting plate medially disposed on the sensing element.

The coordinate rotation comprises a coordinate rotation transforming a first set of coordinate axes to a second set of coordinate axes, wherein the first set of coordinate axes has each coordinate axis aligned with a corresponding component of the three-component particle motion sensor at the sensor position, and the second set of coordinate axes comprises a first axis pointed in a direction opposite the direction from the sensor position to the noise source.

According to one example, a system includes a flexural beam having a first face and a second face opposite the first face and a first coil of optical fiber coupled to the first face, where the first coil of optical fiber is encapsulated by a cured encapsulation composition, wherein the encapsulation composition has a viscosity from 30 to 300 millipascal-second at 25&#xb0; C.
