The mobile ad hoc network (MANET) includes a plurality of wireless mobile nodes and a plurality of wireless communication links connecting the nodes together. A method for operating a MANET includes predicting future-needed network services, network resources and network configurations in the MANET. A network response is predicted, based upon the predicted future-needed network services, network resources and network configurations. The MANET is adjusted based upon the predicted network response before the future-needed network services, network resources and network configurations are actually needed in the MANET.

Predictive mobile ad hoc networking including associated systems and methods

A method is provided for communicating between a source node and a destination node in a mobile ad-hoc network. The method may include transmitting a quality-of-service (QoS) route request from the source node to the destination node via a plurality of intermediate nodes therebetween to discover routing to the destination node based upon a plurality of QoS parameters. Responsive to the QoS route request, a plurality of potential routes between the source node and the destination node may be determined along with a QoS metric corresponding to each of the QoS parameters for each potential route. Further, the QoS parameters may be ranked in an order of importance, and each of the QoS metrics weighted based upon the ranking of QoS parameters. As such, the weighted QoS metrics may be compared, and one of the potential routes may be selected based thereon for the transmission of message data.

Mobile ad-hoc network and methods for performing functions therein based upon weighted quality of service metrics

The mobile ad hoc network includes a plurality of wireless mobile nodes and a plurality of wireless communication links connecting the nodes together. A method for operating the network includes discovering and using routes in the network, predicting route failure in the network, and performing route maintenance in the network based upon the predicted route failure.

The mobile ad hoc network includes a plurality of wireless mobile nodes and a plurality of wireless communication links connecting the nodes together. A method for managing and controlling the discovery and maintenance of routes in the network includes predicting future-needed routes or the need for future communications in the network, and predicting future-network dynamics or topology. Partial and complete routes are discovered along predicted future-needed routes based upon the predicted need for routes and the predicted network dynamics or topology. Route tables are built and updated at each mobile node with a route discovery process to store the partial and complete routes in the network.

Partial and complete routes are discovered along predicted future-needed routes based upon the predicted need for routes. Route tables are built and updated at each mobile node with a route discovery process to store the partial and complete routes in the network.

The mobile ad hoc network includes a plurality of wireless mobile nodes and a plurality of wireless communication links connecting the nodes together. The method includes node advertisement, or group of mobile nodes, in the mobile ad hoc network. The group of mobile nodes includes a temporary or permanent association of two or more of the plurality of mobile nodes. The method includes transmitting node/group information using a beacon signal, determining a node/group condition of the corresponding mobile node or group of nodes, and varying the beacon signal based upon the determined condition.

Intelligent communication node object beacon framework in a mobile ad hoc network

The mobile ad hoc network includes a plurality of wireless mobile nodes and a plurality of wireless communication links connecting the nodes together. A method for managing and controlling the discovery and maintenance of routes in the network includes transmitting beacon signals from each mobile node, determining a node or group condition at each mobile node, and varying the beacon signals based upon the determined node/group condition. Route tables are bulit and updated at each mobile node with a first one of proactive and reactive route discovery processes to define routes in the network. The beacon signals are received and node/group condition information is stored at each node. Route stability over time is predicted based upon the node/group condition information, and when predicted route stability reaches a first transition parameter the method switches to a second one of the proactive and reactive route discovery processes.

Intelligent communication node object beacon framework (ICBF) with temporal transition network protocol (TTNP) in a mobile ad hoc network

The mobile ad hoc network includes a plurality of wireless mobile nodes and a plurality of wireless communication links connecting the nodes together. The nodes advertise using variable beacon signals. The method includes neighbor discovery with beacon signal detection. The method includes searching for the variable beacon signals at a given mobile node using an initial detection rate and at an initial detection frequency, and increasing a detection rate from the initial detection rate up to a maximum detection rate while searching for the variable beacon signals at the initial detection frequency. The detection frequency may also be varied.

Intelligent communication node object beacon framework including neighbor discovery in a mobile ad hoc network

The mobile ad hoc network includes a plurality of wireless mobile nodes and a plurality of wireless communication links connecting the nodes together. The method includes building and updating route tables at each node by managing and controlling the application of either proactive or reactive route discovery and their respective associated processes to define and maintain routes in the network. A route is a set of links and nodes from a source to a destination. The method also includes collecting and storing route stability information at each node, predicting route stability over time based upon the route stability information, and switching to the other of the proactive and reactive route discovery and the associated processes when predicted route stability reaches a first transition parameter. Moreover, the method preferably includes switching back to the first one of the proactive and reactive route discovery and the associated processes when predicted route stability reaches a second transition parameter. Thus temporal transitioning of route discovery and associated processes in a mobile ad hoc network is provided.
