A method of improving retention and drainage in a papermaking process is disclosed. The addition of an associative polymer, a poly(vinylamine) and optionally a siliceous material to the papermaking slurry to improve retention and drainage is disclosed. Additionally a method to improve retention and drainage comprising addition of an organic microparticle, a poly(vinylamine) and optionally a siliceous material to the papermaking slurry is disclosed. A composition comprising an associative polymer, and a poly(vinylamine) and optionally further comprising cellulose fiber is disclosed.

A combination, or blend, of two or more surfactants provides for an effective breaker system. The blend of surfactants is more effective than the individual surfactants.

The present invention relates to aqueous compositions comprising component (A) which comprises at least one water-soluble component comprising at least one functional group that undergoes a crosslinking reaction, preferably upon drying and/or heating; and component (B) which comprises at least one film-forming material. In particular the composition is a coating composition comprises: (A) at least one polyamidoamine-epihalohydrin resin; and (B) at least one material selected from flexibilizing materials, crosslink inhibiters and combinations thereof in an amount sufficient to impart a cuttability value of less than about 15 to a substrate coated with the coating composition. A process of repulping paper a product comprising cellulose fibers, comprising forming an aqueous suspension of paper product to be repulped and an oxidizing agent comprising at least one persulfate salt, and maintaining the pH of the aqueous suspension in a range of from about 2.3 to about 6.5. Owing to their high absorbency properties, they are particularly useful in the manufacture of disposable nonwoven products, such as adult incontinence pads, feminine hygiene products, disposable diapers and surgical dressings.
