A liquid treatment system has a housing defining an interior space. The housing has an inlet port for receiving liquid into the interior space of the housing and an outlet port for allowing liquid to exit the interior space of the housing. The outlet port is spaced from the inlet port so that liquid flows through the interior space of the housing from the inlet port to the outlet port. An ultrasonic waveguide assembly is disposed within the interior space of the housing and includes an ultrasonic horn disposed at least in part intermediate the inlet port and the outlet port of the housing. The ultrasonic horn is operable at an ultrasonic frequency to ultrasonically energize liquid flowing within the housing. An ultraviolet light source emits ultraviolet light into the interior space of the housing to treat liquid flowing therein.

Liquid treatment system

In a method of ultrasonically treating a substance disposed within a container an ultrasonic horn is positioned within the container with at least a portion of the horn submerged in the substance. The horn is ultrasonically excited to thereby ultrasonically energize the substance. An agitating member is rotated within the substance while the ultrasonic horn is excited to agitate the substance as the substance is ultrasonically energized.

Method of ultrasonically treating a substance

In an ultrasonic treatment system for ultrasonically treating a substance, an elongate ultrasonic horn is positionable within the substance and excitable to vibrate ultrasonically to energize the substance. The horn has a longitudinal axis and an outer surface for contact with the substance. An agitating member of the system is disposed on the ultrasonic horn and is rotatable about the longitudinal axis of the horn during ultrasonic vibration of the horn to agitate the substance.

Ultrasonic treatment system

An ultrasonically operated valve a source of ultrasonic energy for excitation of a pressurized liquid. The vibration of the ultrasonic horn imparts a pulsing of the pressure of the liquid within the valve. Selection of a sealing mechanism that responds at a different natural frequency than that of the valve body causes the sealing mechanism to unseat and therefore to enable liquid flow. The sealing mechanism will stay unseated as long as the source is imparting energy to the system and therefore inducing pressure pulses in the liquid thus keeping the sealing mechanism away from the valve seat.

Ultrasonically controlled valve

A loop material suitable for use in a hook-and-loop fastening system, which loop material includes a bonded carded web having a first side and a second side. The bonded carded web has a basis weight of from about 15 to about 140 grams per square meter and a thickness of from about 1 mm to about 15 mm. The bonded carded web may be thermally pattern bonded. The bonded carded web is composed of fibers having a denier per filament greater than 2, with from 100 to 0 percent by weight of the fibers being thermoplastic polymer fibers and from 0 to 100 percent by weight of the fibers being bicomponent thermoplastic polymer fibers. The first component of the bicomponent fibers has a melting point which is at least about 50.degree. C. lower than the melting point of the second component. The bonded carded web has a plurality of interfiber bonds. The web also contains a binder at a level of from about 10 to about 50 percent by weight, based on the weight of the bonded carded web, in which the amount of binder at the second side is less than the amount of binder at the first side and the amount of binder at the first side is sufficient to permit multiple attachments of the first side of the bonded carded web to and releases from the hooks without significant distortion of the fibers at the first side. The present invention also provides a method of preparing a loop material suitable for use in a hook-and-loop fastening system.
