A combustion engine comprised of (i) at least one compression stage, (ii) at least one combustion unit, and (iii) at least one expansion stage is described. The compression and expansion stages include tongue and groove cylindrical rotors in sealing relation to one another for fluid volume displacement and transfer of rotational force from expansion of compressed fluid volumes following combustion. Related methods of providing a rotational force to a drive shaft are also described.

Rotary engine

A gravity-steered grapple is created by retrofiting the boom plate of an excavator which has a longitudinally rotatable boom. The grapple includes a freely-turning, swivel joint with an axis of rotation which is offset from the center of the grapple jaws so that the center of mass of the load is likewise offset. By manipulating the angle of the boom plate with existing operator controls, the load can be steered about the swivel joint controllably through a horizontal 360-degree angle. The grapple also includes a jaw safety clamp which is movable between lock and release positions. The clamp is self-actuating and is moved into the lock position when an extension of the clamp contacts the load as the grapple is raised. The grapple is particularly useful in lifting and placing modular highway barriers.

Gravity-steered grapple

A heater assembly includes heating element for generating heat to warm a space to be heated. A heat sensor is provided sensing the temperature within the radiant heater assembly for automatically disabling the heater elements upon exposure of the sensor to temperature in excess of a predetermined threshold temperature. A tip-over switch is provided for disabling the heater elements in resonse to predetermined tilting movement of the radiant heater assembly relative to a normal upright position. Alert indicators are provided for indicating disablement of the heater elements upon actuation of either the heat sensor or tip-over switch.

A standard toilet bowl brush, having a wire loop frame, sometimes lying in a slightly curved plane, supporting encompassing bristles, and with an elongated handle, is converted, temporarily, into a steel wool brush by an adaptor spider which embraces the larger dimension of the brush and projects a forwardly and upwardly canted lance upon which a steel wool or other harsh scrub pad is impaled to enable under-the-rim scrub action where hard deposits build up and discolor from water deposits.

Toilet bowl brush

A radiant heater assembly is provided that includes heating element for generating heat radiantly to warm a space to be heated. The heater assembly includes a sensor for sensing temperature within the radiant heater assembly. An overheat control unit is provided for automatically disabling the heater elements upon exposure of the sensor to temperature in excess of a predetermined threshold temperature. Alert indicators are provided for indicating disablement of the heater elements upon actuation of the overheat control unit. A tip-over switch is provided for activating the alert indicators independent of actuation of the overheat control unit in response to predetermined tilting movement of the radiant heater assembly relative to a normal upright position.
