A novel one-piece louver having a flat or substantially arcuate cross-section defining thereof first and second longitudinal edges, there being no other structure depending from the first and the second longitudinal edges, suitable for use in a louvered covering system carrying on at least one face thereof and along the periphery thereof an adhesive carrying a removable protection covering.

Novel thiadiazole compounds are disclosed which contain in the 5 position, C-linked moieties which are either acyclic hydrocarbon radicals or halogenated acyclic hydrocarbon radicals (in which case each halogen is independently selected from F, Cl and Br). These novel compounds also contain an exocyclic nitrogen in the 2 position, and some of them contain the exocyclic substituent: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.3 is a lower acyclic hydrocarbon radical and R.sub.4 is either H or a lower acyclic hydrocarbon radical. Synthesis of these compounds is disclosed, including synthesis of those which exhibit isomerism and/or tautomerism. Various of these compounds have various agricultural utilities (e.g. as herbicides, insecticides, acaricides and fungicides), each of them having at least one such biological utility. Methods of using these compounds in phytotoxic fungicidal, acaricidal and insecticidal applications are disclosed.

Thiadiazole compounds and methods of using said compounds in agriculture

This invention relates to a novel substituted thiadiazole, identified as 1-[5-(2-chloro-1,1-dimethylethyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl]-1,3-dimethylurea, to its use in a novel method for the control of unwanted vegetation, and to a novel herbicidal composition employing the substituted thiadiazole as the herbicidally-active ingredient.

Herbicidal compound and method of use

Direct halogenation of C.sub.4 -C.sub.10 saturated keto monocarboxy acids or their acidogenic derivatives with elemental halogen to yield olefinic halogenated compounds (e.g. acids and lactones) containing at least four halogen atoms per molecule is disclosed. The halogenation is purely thermal with preferred temperature ranges being selected as a function of the particular end product desired. Halogenated products of the process as well as ammonia and amine salts of the acids made by the process are useful as insecticides, plant growth control agents and defoliants. Particularly useful products are those olefinic polychlorinated derivatives of gamma-keto-pentanoic acid which contain at least four chlorine atoms per molecule such as, for example, 2,3,5,5,5-pentachloro-4-keto pentenoic acid, its ammonium salt and its amine salts.
