An interconnection system with lossy material of a first connector adjacent a ground conductor of a second connector. The lossy material may damp resonances at a mating interface of the first and second connectors. In some embodiments, the lossy material may be attached to a ground conductor of the first connector. In some embodiments, the lossy material may be shaped as horns that extend along a cavity configured to receive a ground conductor of a mating connector.

High speed connector

An electrical connector comprises an insulative shell having a floor; a first plurality of contacts extending through the floor, wherein the first plurality of contacts are disposed in a plurality of columns; a second plurality of contacts extending through the floor, wherein the second plurality of contacts are interspersed with the first plurality of contacts within the plurality of columns; and a conductive member adjacent the floor. The conductive member comprises a first plurality of openings, wherein the first plurality of contacts extend through the openings of the first plurality of openings; a second plurality of openings, wherein the second plurality of contacts extend through the openings of the second plurality of openings; and a first plurality of tabs, extending into openings in the insulative shell.

High-frequency electrical connector

An electrical connector that electrically connects a first printed circuit board and a second printed circuit board is disclosed, where the electrical connector in the preferred embodiment includes: (a) an insulative housing; (b) a plurality of signal conductors, with at least a portion of each of the plurality of signal conductors disposed within the insulative housing; (c) each of the plurality of signal conductors having a first contact end, a second contact end and an intermediate portion therebetween; and (d) a passive circuit element electrically connected to the intermediate portion of each of the plurality of signal conductors, where the passive circuit element is housed in an insulative package and includes at least a capacitor or an inductor.

Electrical connector incorporating passive circuit elements

An electrical connector having electrical conductors in a plurality of rows is provided, wherein each of the plurality of rows includes a housing and a plurality of electrical conductors. Each electrical conductor has a first contact end connectable to a printed circuit board, a second contact end and an intermediate portion therebetween that is disposed within the housing. The housing includes a first region surrounding each of the plurality of electrical conductors, the first region made of insulative material and extending substantially along the length of the intermediate portion of the electrical conductors. The housing also includes a second region adjacent the first region and extending substantially along the length of the intermediate portion of the electrical conductors. The second region is made of a material with a binder containing conductive fillers.

Electrical connector with conductive plastic features

An electrical contact element that solves many problems associated with making electrical connections to integrated circuit chips. The contact element fits in small areas, but in some configurations can provide compliance in multiple directions to provide the required compliance. The contacts are shaped to provide relatively large stroke and also large force for good electrical contact. Contact elements according to the invention are incorporated into contactors for making electrical contact to Ball Grid Arrays for testing. Contact elements according to the invention are also incorporated into Ball Grid Array packages, and used as a mounting point for solder balls. The contact elements make the electrical connection withstand stress associated with differential thermal expansion.
