A doctor blade holder comprises upper and lower mutually spaced jaw components defining a slot. A doctor blade is removably retained in the slot, and nozzles in one of the jaw components are arranged to direct fluid under pressure into the slot for application to the doctor blade.

Doctor blade purge system

An apparatus for doctoring a roll surface including a pivot bar adapted to be mounted on a doctor back and which the pivot bar defines an upwardly projecting fulcrum. A first shelf projects forwardly beyond the fulcrum and a top plate pivotally supported on and projecting forwardly beyond the fulcrum overlies the first shelf. The top platen is held downwardly against the fulcrum. Blade support members are carried by and cooperate with the top plate to define forwardly open slots, which slots are configured and dimensioned to receive a rear edge of a forwardly projecting doctor blade. The blade support members have rearwardly projecting second shelves underlying the first shelf and a loading mechanism is interposed between the first and second shelves for pivoting the top plate on the fulcrum in a direction urging the doctor blade against the roll surface.

Doctor blade holder

In a paper machine having a roll rotating about an axis extending in a cross machine direction, and having a doctor blade applied to the roll surface by a blade holder parallel to the axis and carried on a doctor back, an apparatus is provided for accommodating relative movement between the blade holder and the doctor back in the cross machine direction during mounting and removal of the blade holder. The apparatus comprises a rail fixed to the doctor back and extending longitudinally in the cross machine direction. A groove extends along the length of the guide rail. The groove has a bottom, a width measured between confronting sides, and a top defined by ledges projecting inwardly from the sides, with inner edges spaced one from the other to define a slot that underlies the blade holder and has a width narrower than the width of the groove. A plurality of shafts are spaced along the length of the blade holder and project downwardly through the slot and into the groove. First and second independently rotatable elements are carried by each of the shafts. The first rotatable elements are located in the slot and are dimensioned to contact the inner edges of the ledges, and the second rotatable elements are located in the groove and are dimensioned to contact the undersides of the ledges.

In a pull through doctor blade transfer system, the blade ends are slotted at their working edges. The slots are arranged and configured to accept complimentarily shaped portions of a connecting link used to detachably connect the trailing end of a spent or worn blade to the leading end of a fresh blade.

In a pull through doctor blade transfer system wherein a coiled blade is payed off one rotatable reel while simultaneously being taken up on another rotatable reel, with an intermediate portion of the blade between the reels being supported in a blade holder arranged to apply the blade to a moving surface to be doctored, each reel is driven by a hydraulic motor. In operation, hydraulic fluid discharged from the motor driving the take up reel is fed to the motor connected to the pay off reel. This fluid is pumped to a high pressure by blade induced rotation of the pay off motor, thus creating a braking torque.

An apparatus for doctoring a cylindrical rotating surface, comprising a doctor back mounted for rotation about a first axis, and a blade carrier assembly mounted on the doctor back for rotation about a second parallel axis. A doctor blade is removably supported by the blade carrier assembly and is loaded against the rotating surface by a force applied to rotate the doctor back about the first axis. A liquid filled flexible walled tube extends along the second axis between the doctor back and the blade carrier assembly. The blade angle is adjusted by expanding and contracting the liquid filled tube to rotate the blade carrier about the second axis.

Doctoring apparatus

A doctoring apparatus employs a doctor blade having a length greater than the face length of the surface being doctored. A blade holder applies an intermediate portion of the blade to the doctored surface. The blade is movable longitudinally through the blade holder, and has continuing portions extending beyond the ends of the holder. At least one clamp acts on one of the continuing blade portions. The clamp is adjustable between a closed setting preventing relative movement between it and the blade, and the open setting permitting such relative movement. A drive reciprocates either the blade holder or the clamp in one direction when the clamp is closed and in the opposite direction when the clamp is opened, thereby causing the blade to move incrementally in one direction across the surface being doctored.

In an elongated, inclined tubular lift pump for fluids such as sewage and the like having apparatus at the upper end for rotation thereof and a support adjoining the lower end thereof, said support including a wear ring encircling the tubular housing and roller enaging said wear ring, said wear ring being secured to said tubular housing by a plurality of blocks positioned on opposing sides of said wear ring and secured to the tubular housing, each of said blocks having an inclined slot and pins carried by the sides of said wear ring and engaging said slots to permit rotation of said wear ring relative to said tubular housing with changes in temperature differentials between the wear ring and tubular housing while maintaining concentricity of the wear ring and housing and thus relieving stress on said tubular housing.
