A tubular strainer having a wall defining interior and exterior surfaces, and a first flange on the upper end of the wall, a tubular insert having a cylindrical wall sized for reception by the tubular strainer, and a second flange carried by the insert wall, an elastomeric seal having a tubular body fittingly sealingly carried by the insert cylindrical wall, the seal body configured for progressive compressive radial sealing engagement with the strainer wall interior surface when endwise inserted by the insert within said tubular strainer.

A retention system for holding and mounting a cover cap to a plumbing fitting having a tubular terminal that projects at an opening through a bath or shower wall, comprising a retainer ring fitting on said tubular terminal and tightenable toward said wall, a series of retention cams on said ring and space about a longitudinal axis defined by the ring, there being gaps between successive cams, and there being retention shoulders on the cams, the retention shoulders facing in directions toward said wall, for retaining holders on the cover cap, after said holders have been passed longitudinally through said gaps and after the cap has then rotated to cause said holders to slidably engage the cams and became wedged against said retention shoulders.

A pipe fitting having an end wall and forming a port radially inwardly of the flange to align with the wall opening; an annular elastomeric seal positioned to be compressed between the wall and the work body wall for preventing leakage of fluid outwardly from the wall opening; a test cap unit spaced from the seal and aligned therewith to close off the opening and fastener structure extending through the cap unit and adjustably attached to the fitting for urging the cap unit into sealing relation with the inner side of the work body wall, about the opening, when the seal is compressed as aforesaid, whereby the cap unit then closes off the opening so that test liquid under pressure can be filled into the fitting to test for leakage; the cap unit having annular sealing structure facing toward the annular seal for sealing engagement with the wall inner side, the sealing structure comprising an elastomeric ring and the cap unit includes a plate carrying the ring, the ring consisting of resiliently deflectable material projecting from the plate. That material is typically sponge elastomer.

A drain assembly, for a drain floor having an opening toward which a drain pipe projects, comprises: (a) a tubular plastic body sized to exteriorly fit the drain floor opening, the body having an external thread, and a nut threadably engaging the body thread and rotatable relative to the body, the nut defining an exterior flange, the body and nut consisting of molded plastic material, (b) a plate defining an upper flange overlapping the top of the body, and a grille bounded by the upper flange and overlapping the upper interior of the body, (c) and a tubular base having a flange attached to the nut flange at the underside thereof, the base having a tubular portion projecting downwardly for reception of the upper extent of said pipe, said base consisting of molded plastic material.
