An anchor for connecting a concrete layer of a floor to a cellulosic layer of the floor, the cellulosic layer comprising a plurality of cellulosic members joined together in a side-by-side arrangement, the anchor including a first portion to extend between two adjacent cellulosic members of the cellulosic layer into the concrete layer of the floor. The first portion includes attachment structure to attach the first portion to one of the two adjacent cellulosic members of the cellulosic layer to attach the anchor to the cellulosic layer. An upper edge margin of the first portion is disposed within the concrete layer when the first portion is attached to the cellulosic layer. A second portion extends from the upper edge margin in a first direction that is transverse to the first portion. The second portion is spaced apart from the cellulosic layer and embedded within the concrete layer of the floor to attach the anchor to the concrete layer.

A hinged connector for use in pivotally connecting structural components has improved robustness to carry greater loads through a hinged joint formed using the hinged connector. In one aspect ribs are formed in the hinged connector adjacent the pivoting location. Parts are shaped and arranged to resist tearing in tension and buckling in compression.

A truss manufacturing apparatus and method. The apparatus includes a conveyor for moving upper and lower chords thru a series of assembly stations of the apparatus. A board is inserted between the chords at one station and secured in place forming a trimmable end of a truss. One or more web boards can be inserted between the chords at a second station and secured in place by connector nail plates forming a opening in the truss for ductwork or the like. Metal web members are secured to opposite side edges of the truss at a third station to form a web between the chords. The chords are positioned in a generally vertical plane with one above the other in the apparatus and the board, web boards and web members are moved into position from one or both sides of the chords.

Apparatus and method for fabricating flat trusses

Trackless gantry press apparatus includes, in one embodiment, a plurality of truss setup tables configured to form a row of spaced truss setup tables. Each table includes wheel guides coupled at opposing ends and extending the width of the table. The guides are configured to be in substantial alignment with the guides coupled to adjacent tables. The apparatus also includes a press assembly for pressing nailing plates into truss members. The press assembly includes a substantially cylindrically shaped roller movably coupled to a substantially inverted U-shaped frame. The press assembly also includes at least four support wheels and at least four reaction pressure wheels coupled to each opposite end of the frame and configured so that at least three support wheels on each end of the press assembly are in contact with the wheel guides at all times as the press assembly traverses the spaces between the spaced setup tables. Additionally, a motor is operatively coupled to the roller and the drive wheels and configured so that the roller and the drive wheels rotate at the same speed.

Apparatus for stacking individual wood roof trusses horizontally into bundles suitable for banding, the apparatus including a stacking station, a conveyor adapted to convey wood roof trusses individually and in a predetermined horizontal plane to a position adjacent the stacking station. A transporter is provided adjacent the stacking station. The transporter, normally being disposed below the horizontal plane, is raised above the plane to engage a truss and then move the truss laterally off of the conveyor to the stacking station.
