Various embodiments of the present invention pertain to methods for biological production of hydrogen. More specifically, embodiments of the present invention pertain to a modular energy system and related methods for producing hydrogen using organic waste as a feed stock.

Production of hydrogen using an anaerobic biological process

A new approach to the production of coke. In this process multiple optimized value streams are produced from a coke facility located at mine mouth or locally at an existing plant. As part of the process, lower cost Indiana/Illinois Basin-type coals are blended with conventional metallurgical coals. The blending process is optimized to meet coke quality requirements and simultaneously to obtain a pyrolysis gas composition suitable for production of ancillary products including liquid transportation fuels, fertilizer, hydrogen, and electricity. By using lower cost Indiana/Illinois Basin coal it is possible to reduce net coal costs. This process provides a new direction and approach for the production of coke in the future that optimizes value over multiple product streams while reducing both business and technological risk.

An energy management system and method is provided for managing the generation and distribution of energy from an energy source to a building. The building has a desired building environment and a total energy profile including a thermal energy requirement and an electrical energy requirement. The energy management system comprises an energy generator arranged to convert energy from the energy source to thermal energy and electrical energy, a heat recovery unit arranged to recover byproduct heat from the energy generator, a cooling unit arranged to use a first portion of the thermal energy to drive a refrigeration unit, a heating unit arranged to use a second portion of the thermal energy to drive a heating unit, a heat storage unit arranged to store excess heat, and an energy optimizing controller.

Energy management system and methods for the optimization of distributed generation

A method of and system for identification and verification of TV and/or radio broadcasted program segments involving use of subaudible codes which are mixed with the conventional audio in the program segments. Individual program segments, which may include commercial message segments, have at the beginning thereof a preamble code (such as a predetermined number of cycles of 40 Hz.), a program segment identification code (which may consist of a series of alphanumeric characters) and a postamble code (such as a given number of cycles of 40 Hz.). The program segment codes may consist of a series of mark and space signals (such as presence and absence of 40 Hz. signals). A plurality of radio/television broadcast stations are monitored, the codes recovered and data sets defined, stored and later sent to a central location for reconciliation and/or compilation. In the case of television stations, the video content of at least commercial message segments may be monitored to determine video signal continuity by monitoring the presence and/or absence of video signals of some or all program segments, especially the commercial message segments.

An apparatus for regasifying liquified products such as natural gas includes an outer pressure vessel, an inner vessel for receiving liquified gas and a plurality of individually controllable heating assemblies stacked within the inner vessel. Each of the heating assemblies includes a plurality of sets of heating coils constructed for promoting the flow of liquified gas therethrough in a manner for enhancing the efficiency of the heating and regasifying operation.

Regasifier

A method of accurately measuring volume of gas flowing through a conduit as a result of differential pressure of the gas within the conduit is disclosed. The method comprises determining flow of the gas through the conduit, and terminating flow of the gas through the conduit when the differential pressure is a preselected value. The gas flow and the resulting determination of gas volume are preferably referenced to standard temperature and pressure. Also disclosed is an apparatus for effecting the method.
