A chain hoist having a casing into which and with respect to which a chain travels is provided with an externally mounted position encoder assembly. A releasable connector, such as a ratchet strap, is employed to firmly but removably couple the position encoder assembly housing externally on the chain hoist casing. The releasable connector holds the position encoder assembly housing in a fixed position relative to the chain hoist casing. The position encoder assembly has a chain gear that is rotatably mounted relative to the position encoder assembly housing proximate to the chain access opening in the chain hoist casing. The precision encoder assembly chain gear engages the portion of the chain that is maintained under tension at a location externally of the chain hoist casing and rotates as the chain travels relative to the chain hoist casing. A releasable clamp is anchored relative to the position encoder assembly housing and is engageable to maintain engagement of the position encoder assembly chain gear with the chain. An encoder is mounted with respect to the position encoder assembly housing and detects rotational movement of the position encoder assembly chain gear. The sensor provides electrical output signals indicative of the extent and direction of rotational movement of the position encoder assembly chain gear. The position encoder assembly provides precise, reliable output signals indicative of the position of the chain relative to the chain hoist. The position encoder assembly may be readily removed from the chain hoist, and just as easily attached thereto.

Removable chain hoist position encoder assembly

A compact and efficient theatrical light that includes four mirrors, a gobo apparatus a colorchanger/dowser/diffusion system, and a lens system. The light beam is reflected four times, each time by 90 degrees. The second reflection is perpendicular to the plane formed by the initial path of the beam and the path after the first reflection. The gobo, the lens system and the colorchanger/dowser/diffusion system are located between the second and the third mirrors. This achieves a very compact, but fully capable light which may be attached to and protected by a truss system when in use and when in transport. Also discussed is a simple color changer/dowser/diffusion system with color glass panels mounted to tracks and moveable into and out of the optical path by cables connected to each panel.

Compact theatrical light and method

A lamp module apparatus which may be used with theatrical lighting fixture, the module including a lamp, an elliptical reflector, a secondary spherical reflector, a heatsink, a forced air system, adjustment clamps and a mirror. The module may be removed from a fixture and easily reinstalled allowing for added safety for the lamp and a more efficient fixture system. The lamp is adjustable relative to the module so that lamp modules may be interchangeable.

Lamp module apparatus

A simple, reliable and yet fully capable wash light, having a lamp surrounded by a reflector, a field stop with a fixed aperture, a frame for holding color/diffusion/dowser panels, and a fernal lens located immediately adjacent the frame. These elements are mounted in a housing which, in turn, is mounted to a yoke allowing 270 degrees of tilt. The yoke is mounted to a base allowing 360 degrees of pan.

Wash light and method

A shaft supported on a first member for rotation about a generally horizontal axis and having a pinion gear on its free end engageable with a rack extending vertically along a second member, whereby one member may be raised or lowered with respect to the other upon rotation of the shaft, and the torque in the shaft between its ends may be measured to determine the load on the gear teeth.

Lifting apparatus

There is disclosed a means mounted in front of a power driven reel for shifting laterally back and forth in a direction parallel to the axis of the reel in order to guide a line onto or off of the reel. A servo-mechanism is provided for causing the line to be wound onto or off of the reel in accordance with a predetermined pattern and thus in an even manner.
