Antimicrobial compositions containing an antimicrobial agent, such as an octenidine salt, a solubilizer, such as a glycol, and a cidatrope, such as a C-Calcohol, an ether, an amide, an ester, and combinations thereof, where the compositions are substantially free of water and C-Calcohols and methods of making such antimicrobial compositions.

Antimicrobial composition

Adhesive compositions are disclosed that include an octenidine salt, a resin system, a plasticizer, and a cidatrope. The dried adhesive compositions are substantially free of water and C-Calcohols. The adhesive compositions disclosed are formulations that provide rapid and persistent antimicrobial activity and may be useful, for example, in wound dressings, surgical drapes, and medical tapes.

Provided is a method of forming a fibrin hydrogel composition, the method including providing a fibrin hydrogel or precursor thereof, comprising fibrin hydrogel forming salt. The fibrin hydrogel forming salt concentration is greater than or equal to the threshold concentration to form a fibrin hydrogel. The method further includes combining the fibrin hydrogel with a carrier material. The concentration of the carrier material typically ranges from 0.1 to about 50 wt.-%. The method further includes reducing the salt concentration below the threshold concentration to form a fibrin hydrogel.

Film forming gel compositions, useful in creating conformable and flexible gel bandages, can be formulate from a film-forming polymer, a tackifier, and a volatile solvent. The film forming gels can also include antiseptics, cationic polymer coagulants, fillers, and other additives. The gel compositions form relatively thick films when dried on tissue, and can exhibit enhanced breathability to promote wound healing.

Provided is a method of forming a fibrinogen hydrogel composition, the method including providing a fibrinogen hydrogel or precursor thereof, comprising fibrinogen hydrogel forming salt. Conformable coating composition are described comprising a (meth)acrylate copolymer comprising interpolymerized monomer units of fluorinated monomer and a volatile solvent having a solubility parameter from 4.9-12.5 (cal/cm). In some embodiments, the fluorinated monomer has a Tg &#x3c;30&#xb0; C. In some embodiments, the dried coating exhibits no blocking and no greater than 75% failure at an elongation of 100%. Also described is a conformable film comprising a dried coating composition of the coating compositions described herein, articles comprising a layer of the conformable film on a substrate, and a copolymer comprising interpolymerized units of fluorinated monomer(s), silane monomer(s); and one or more monomers having a Tg &#x2265;50&#xb0; C.

A vapor sensor comprises a housing with an inlet opening in fluid communication with a sensor element within the housing. Standoff member(s) are positioned to maintain a gap between the inlet opening and a skin site. An operating circuit is in electrical communication with the sensor element and communicatively coupled to an output member. In use, the output member generates a sensory output indicative to an operator regarding concentration of alcoholic vapor in the ambient atmosphere proximate the skin site upon receiving communication from the operating circuit.

Polymeric materials are disclosed herein that include a reaction product of components comprising: a) a first amine component having at least two and at most three primary amino groups, secondary amino groups, or a mixture thereof, with the proviso that the first amine component is not a silicone diamine; b) a second amine component having (i) greater than three primary amino groups, or (ii) at least three primary amino groups and a plurality of secondary amino groups, wherein the second amine component is a polymeric material having a carbon backbone or a polymeric material having a carbon backbone with a plurality of catenated nitrogen atoms; and c) an oxalate ester.

Conformable coating composition

An adhesive hydrogel dressing as well as methods of applying the dressing to a patient. The dressing generally comprises an adhesive hydrogel pad, a backing layer, and an adhesive layer on the backing layer facing the hydrogel pad. The adhesive layer and backing layer form a perimeter around the hydrogel pad and hold the hydrogel pad in place on an application surface. A release element is in contact with at least a portion of the edge of the hydrogel pad proximate the area that the hydrogel pad and release liner separate during liner removal.

The disclosed conformable coating provides a highly durable and resilient film useful for protecting and repairing surfaces such as skin and mucous membranes. The coating comprises 0.1% to 65% wt. of a polymerized cyanoacrylate monomer and at least 35% wt. of an elastomer phase. The conformable coating composition comprises a polymerizable cyanoacrylate monomer, an elastomer, and a volatile liquid. The cyanoacrylate monomer is 0.1 to 65% wt. of the nonvolatile portion, the elastomer in an elastomer phase is at least 35% wt. of the nonvolatile portion, and the volatile liquid is at least 40% wt. of the total composition.

A hydrophilic, pressure-sensitive adhesive composition comprising crosslinked poly(N-vinyl lactam), a swelling agent, and a modifying polymer in an amount sufficient to form a cohesive pressure-sensitive adhesive composition is provided. The composition is useful as a medical secural of percutaneous devices. The composition is also useful as a drug delivery device to deliver antimicrobial agents, pharmaceuticals or other active ingredients to or through skin. A method of preparation of the composition is also disclosed.
