A diagnostic apparatus () for diagnosing faults within a lighting system comprising at least one luminaire (), and at least one presence sensor () configured to control the operation of at least one luminaire () when an object is within the presence sensor () sensing range, the diagnostic apparatus () comprising: a user input () configured to receive at least one input to control the at least one luminaire (); and a fault determiner () configured to determine at least one lighting system fault based on the at least one input and wherein an object is within the sensing range of a presence sensor () expected to be associated with the at least one luminaire (); and a fault reporter () configured to generate at least one fault report based on the determined at least one lighting system fault.

Lighting system fault diagnostic apparatus

Lighting units, lighting systems, and methods are described herein for automatic and decentralized commissioning of a replacement lighting unit (). In various embodiments, a replacement lighting unit may receive, from one or more remote lighting units over one or more communication networks, one or more identifiers associated with the one or more remote lighting units. The replacement lighting unit may also receive, from at least one of the one or more remote lighting units over the one or more communication networks, the lighting operation parameters associated with an inoperative lighting unit. The replacement lighting unit may then selectively energize one or more light sources () associated with the replacement lighting unit to emit light having one or more properties indicated in the lighting operation parameters associated with the inoperative lighting unit.

Automatic and decentralized commissioning of replacement lighting units

A lighting-control processor () for controlling operation of an external lighting unit comprises an exchange control unit, which is configured to control exchange of lighting-control information with the lighting unit via a lighting-control interface in accordance with an exchange protocol and to generate and provide exchange monitoring information indicative of an operational status of the exchange control unit. A reset unit is configured to receive a soft-reset command and to cause a soft reset of the lighting-control processor upon receiving the soft-reset command. An exchange watchdog unit is configured to receive the exchange monitoring information, determine validity of the exchange monitoring information in accordance with a predefined validity criterion, and to provide the soft-reset command upon detecting that the received exchange monitoring information is not valid.
