A dosing cup having a longitudinal axis includes a base; an opening opposing the base, wherein the opening is circumscribed by a rim; and a sidewall extending from the base to the rim. The sidewall includes a first portion extending from the rim toward the base. The first portion has a projection with a dosing indicium. The projection is defined by a length extending axially along the sidewall and a width that is perpendicular to the length. The width of the projection is less than the length of the projection. The sidewall includes a second portion extending from the base toward the rim. The second portion has a recess. The projection of the first portion mates with the recess of the second portion. The first portion has a first translucency and the second portion has a second translucency, wherein the first translucency is different than the second translucency.

An absorbent article, such as a sanitary napkin, that is for attaching to and wearing in an undergarment is provided. The sanitary napkin of the present invention has a fastener that aids the sanitary napkin in assuming a body-conforming configuration during wear. The fastener comprises at least two zones of fastener material located only in the end regions of the sanitary napkin. In one embodiment, the zones of fastener material are arranged in an overall configuration that resembles a modified letter 'X' without any fastener material in the portion of the configuration that would form the center of the letter X, and the ends of the 'X' located in the corner regions of the sanitary napkin.

A disposable cover which, when used with an absorbent material, such as a pad of woven cloth, provides an absorbent article, such as a catamenial pad is disclosed. In a preferred embodiment, the disposable cover comprises a liquid pervious rewet barrier and an anti-stain barrier joined thereto. Preferably, the rewet barrier comprises a material having capillaries which allow bodily liquids to rapidly penetrate therethrough and the anti-stain barrier is provided in two portions, one of which is joined to each longitudinal edge of the fewer barrier. The disposable cover can also be provided with absorbent attachment means for securing the cover to the absorbent material and with garment attachment means for securing the assembly of the disposable cover and the absorbent material to a user's undergarment. Alternative embodiments of the invention can assume a pouch configuration. This alternative configuration is particularly useful if the absorbent material is in a form lacking significant cohesiveness, such as a tow of fibers.

The sanitary napkin of the present invention has at least one component facing the body surface of the sanitary napkin having a window cut out therein. The sanitary napkin is provided with an acquisition/distribution component such as a tow of resilient fibers having intra-fiber capillary channels. The tow of resilient fibers is positioned so that it at least partially lies in the space defined by the window. The acquisition/distribution component has a compressed configuration and an uncompressed configuration. In its uncompressed configuration, the acquisition/distribution component lies relatively flat behind the window. In its compressed configuration, the acquisition/distribution component forms a hump on the body surface that protrudes from the window.

An absorbent article, such as a sanitary napkin having a body-conforming portion or component that is capable of continuously adusting is provided. The body-conforming component, in one embodiment, is in the form of a resilient insert which has multiple arcuate portions in use. The insert has a central arcuate portion that provides the sanitary napkin with a convex upward shape in use and a pair of lateral arcuate portions that form barriers to the flow of liquid exudates. The multiple arcuate portions can either be pre-formed into the insert, or the insert can be provided in the form of a relatively flat piece that is provided with areas of different stiffness that form arcuate portions during use.
