Composite products and related methods are disclosed. In some examples, methods of filament winding composite components and products, such as a sleeve and/or a mandrel for use in down-hole applications, are disclosed. The winding of components can involve using a percentage of fiber roving strands that are blown during manufacture such that they have fiber loops that when wound as layers forms bridges across the discrete layers to enhance the inter-laminar strength of the composite product.

Filament wound composite tools and related methods

Dual directional latch devices or connectors are described wherein a first connector component and a second connector component have a first latched position and a second latched position when moving in a first direction and wherein movement in a second direction is also possible when a restriction feature is overcome. As described, opposing magnetic forces, pneumatic pressure, spring force, and a crushable force may be incorporated so that further movement in the second direction must overcome the restriction feature. The dual direction latch devices may be used with articles of manufacture such as with implantable medical devices, door panels, airplane panels, and drilling devices to name a few.

Multi-latching mechanisms and related methods

Device, system, and method to adhesively bond a sleeve to a mandrel are disclosed. The sleeve and the mandrel may be used as part of frac plug or a bridge plug in oil and gas applications. The bonded adhesive connection with grooves is strengthened to reliably achieve higher levels of lap shear strengths than attainable by conventional means.

High strength connection for sleeve and mandrel and related methods

A canted coil spring made from multi-metallic wire to achieve combinations of desired material characteristics of different metals is discussed. Wire to be used in canted coil springs can have two or more metals oriented co-axially along such wire, such as an outer layer of one metal having one set of properties, and a core of a different metal having a different set of properties, that will achieve a single solid, multi-metallic wire with enhanced performance over a single material canted coil spring. Such features may be found advantageous in electrical applications, such as where both high electrical conductivity and high strength properties are desired.

An electrical contact assembly made from a stamped housing, having a first end with a spring groove housing formed over a canted coil spring in order to provide spring retention to a pin or post inserted into the housing. On the other end of the stamped housing, a wire/cable crimp assembly is formed. The spring, groove housing may be formed having an opening for insertion of the pin or post that is either substantially parallel or perpendicular to the base of the housing.

Electrical contacts using canted coil springs and stamped housings and methods thereof

A connector includes a canted coil spring, a multi-piece housing, and an insert element. The multi-piece housing includes a first housing part defining a bore of the housing, and a second housing part connected to the first housing part and comprising a tapered wall defined by a first section of the second housing part with a first inner diameter and a second section of the second housing part with a second inner diameter greater than the first inner diameter. A groove is formed in the bore by the connection of the first housing part with the second housing part, the groove having at least a portion of the canted coil spring disposed therein and having a tapered side wall formed at least partly by the tapered wall of the second housing part. The insert element is insertable into the bore to engage the canted coil spring for connection with the housing.

Connector assemblies for use to concurrently transmit multiple signals or sources. The connector assemblies are generally formed by coupling a plurality of ring contacts, sealing rings, and spring contact elements together with at least one holding ring to form a connector having a common bore for receiving a lead cable. Contact grooves or spring chambers for positioning the spring contact elements are formed in part by assembling multiple components together. The connector assemblies may be used in a number of industries and applications.

Connector assemblies for use with implantable medical devices

A winch is provided for taking or winding ropes, cables, and the like. The winch has a drum, a lower crown, a rope groove and an upper crown having a socket which has a fluted cavity. The fluted cavity is configured to cooperate with a pin of a winch handle, which when turned rotates the drum. In an embodiment, the fluted cavity has a groove having a canted coil spring positioned therein. The pin on the winch handle has a groove placed to correspond with the depth of the groove when placed into the socket. The combination allows the winch handle to latch to the winch and to resist unintended separation between the two.

A locking device for connectors is provided that uses a threaded seal latch application using a ferrule. The locking device secures leads in electrical connectors, particularly connectors involved in medically implantable devices. The locking device utilizes a threaded nut, pre-assembled onto a lead cable with a ferrule. The lead cable is inserted into and engages with a threaded sleeve, the threaded sleeve serves as an opening for the in-line stack inside a housing. The threaded nut engages the threaded sleeve, and the ferrule along the lead cable is encased therebetween. The ferrule is pushed into and against the inner surface of the threaded sleeve by the threaded nut, tightly securing the ferrule in place, and thereby locking the lead cable in the desired position.
