Bumper for a truck vehicle

A tilt mechanism for pivoting a vehicle body panel relative to a vehicle chassis includes a pivot pin having a pivot pin axis. The pivot pin provides a single-point pivot attachment of the body panel to the chassis such that the body panel can articulate about the pivot pin axis relative to the chassis. A support member pivotably connects to the chassis about the pivot pin axis by the pivot pin. The support member has a tilt axis along a longitudinal extent of the support member. The tilt axis is perpendicular to the pivot pin axis. The support member supports the vehicle body panel weight through a pivotal connection between a support member end and the body panel. The pivotal connection allows the body panel to pivot relative to the chassis about the tilt axis via a bearing. A torsion bar is within the support member. One portion of the torsion bar is secured to the support member and another portion is secured to the body panel by a slot that receives a torsion bar end. The torsion bar biases the body panel relative to the chassis along at least an angular portion of a pivotal range about the tilt axis. The slot is hour-glass-shaped such that the body panel can pivot about the tilt axis relative to the chassis without loading the torsion bar over a specified angular range about the tilt axis.

Tilt mechanism and method for pivoting a vehicle body panel relative to a vehicle chassis

An air intake manifold for providing air from an exterior of a vehicle to a ventilation system of the vehicle. A primary plenum chamber has an intake passageway formed therein. The intake passageway is adapted to allow air from the exterior of the vehicle to enter the primary plenum chamber. A secondary plenum chamber is located within the primary plenum chamber. A shield is attached to the primary plenum chamber and extends over the secondary plenum chamber. A secondary inlet passageway is formed in an upper portion of the secondary plenum chamber. The secondary inlet passageway fluidly connects the primary plenum chamber to the secondary plenum chamber. A filter member covers the secondary inlet passageway to prevent debris from entering the secondary plenum chamber via the secondary inlet passageway. An outlet passageway is formed in the secondary plenum chamber. The outlet passageway fluidly connects the secondary plenum chamber to the ventilation system. A primary drain passageway is formed in a lower portion of the primary plenum chamber. A secondary drain passageway is formed in a lower portion of the secondary plenum chamber to fluidly connect the secondary plenum chamber to the primary plenum chamber.

Air intake manifold for a vehicle ventilation system

A component support system for a vehicle provides a way to firmly attach a component to a vehicle. The component support system includes a component member adapted to attach to the component to be mounted and a support member adapted to attach to the vehicle. The component member has a first mating surface with a first channel formed thereon. The support member has a second mating surface with a second channel formed thereon. The second channel is adapted to interfit with the first channel. Because the channel configurations are non-symmetric about an axis allowing the parts to interfit in only one orientation, the component support system is self-aligning. A fastener is adapted to retain the component member against the support member when the first channel is interfitted with the second channel.

A body panel mounting system for a vehicle has a hinge bar (,), a hinge bracket (,), a hinge pivot stop (,), longitudinal positioning collars (,), a latch bar (,), latch bar fasteners (,), and latch brackets (,). The hinge bar (,) is adapted to removably interlock with each hinge bracket (,) to form a hinge mechanism (,). The hinge bar (,) attaches to a vehicle chassis (,). Each hinge bracket (,) retains an edge of a body panel (,). The hinge pivot stop (,) is adapted to limit the pivotal range of each hinge bracket (,) about the hinge bar (,). The latch bar (,) attaches to the body panel (,) via the latch bar fasteners (,), and the latch bar removably attaches to the chassis (,) via the latch brackets (,).

Vehicle body panel mounting system

A remote headlamp adjustment system comprises a headlamp adjustment mechanism attached to a headlamp housing. The headlamp adjustment mechanism is adapted to adjust an aim of a headlamp relative to the headlamp housing. An adjustment screw protrudes from the adjustment mechanism to a terminal screw head. The screw is adapted to control a tilt movement for the aim of the headlamp. The screw has a screw axis along a longitudinal extent of the screw that the screw rotates about when the headlamp aim is being adjusted using the adjustment mechanism. A flexible shaft has first and second shaft ends. The first shaft end is rotatably connected to the screw head such that a rotation of the shaft actuates a rotation of the screw about the screw axis. The shaft has first and second shaft axes that portions of the shaft rotate about when the headlamp aim is being adjusted using the adjustment mechanism. The first shaft axis projects from the first end and substantially aligns with the screw axis. The second shaft axis projects from the second shaft end and the second shaft axis does not axially align with the first shaft axis. A clip protrudes from the headlamp housing. The second shaft end interlocks within the clip such that the clip retains a position of the second shaft end relative to the clip and relative to the adjustment mechanism, but the clip also allows the second shaft end to rotate within the clip about the second shaft axis.
