A neuromodulation device for measuring an evoked response comprising a first electrode; a second electrode, wherein the first and second electrodes are alternately configured as a stimulation electrode; a sensing electrode for sensing an evoked response to a stimulus pulse; and a controller configured to measure an evoked response at the sensing electrode after a stimulus pulse at a first stimulation electrode configuration and after a stimulus pulse at a second alternate stimulation electrode configuration, and to add said pair of measurements.

System and method for monitoring response to neuromodulation

Implantable systems are described that include a stimulation device positionable in vivo and configured to communicatively couple to electrodes configured to stimulate or block body tissue and an auxiliary device positionable in vivo and including one or more coils configured to wirelessly couple, in vivo, to the stimulation device and to wirelessly couple to an ex vivo device. The auxiliary device may include a coil driver and a power source controlled by a processor and memory for storing data instructions for the coil driver and for storing data received from the stimulation device. The auxiliary device may also include a radio transceiver and an antenna. The stimulation device may include a housing, a coil, a power source and an integrated circuit for controlling the electrodes. The stimulation device may be coupled to a cuff via a lead and physically coupled to the auxiliary device.

System for wirelessly coupling in vivo

A nerve interface device including at least one cuff portion having an assembled position in which the cuff portion forms at least part of a passageway for receiving a nerve along a longitudinal axis passing through the passageway; and first and second rings of electrodes mounted on the at least one cuff portion, each ring of electrodes including a plurality of electrodes. Each electrode in the first ring has a corresponding longitudinally-aligned electrode in the second ring so as to form a plurality of pairs of electrodes spaced apart from each other along the longitudinal axis. The plurality of pairs of electrodes includes at least a first pair of electrodes, the first pair of electrodes mounted on the at least one cuff portion. The at least one cuff portion includes an asymmetric configuration about a central axis perpendicular to the longitudinal cuff axis.

Nerve stimulation device for unidirectional stimulation and current steering

An implantable system is disclosed that includes an encapsulated housing including a radioactive source. The encapsulated housing is internally coated with a light-generating coating that converts the radioactive energy to light, that is then output in vivo to a photodiode positioned proximate to at least part of the encapsulated housing in vivo. The photodiode is configured to generate electrical current from the light, which electrical current is output to a power conditioning circuit that is configured to use the electrical current as an input electrical current and to output power to a load in vivo. The encapsulated may also be internally coated, at least in part, with a light directing coating that causes light to be directed toward an optical lens that focuses the light on the photodiode. The radioactive source may be a gas having a low half-life and which poses no health risk to a patient if released.

Powering an in vivo device using energy from a radioactive source

In one embodiment, a neural interface system includes an implantable neural probe having a flexible substrate, electrodes that extend from the substrate that are adapted to contact neural tissue of the brain, a signal processing circuit configured to process neural signals collected with the electrodes, and a wireless transmission circuit configured to wirelessly transmit the processed neural signals, and a backend computing device configured to wirelessly receive the processed neural signals, to process the received signals to reconstruct the collected neural signals, and to analyze the collected neural signals.

Neural interface systems and methods

Calibration of an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is accomplished via a reference comparator, a first and second multiplexer (MUX), and a finite state machine (FSM). By sampling an analog input with the reference comparator and comparing the results with those of the ADC using the FSM, all the comparators in the ADC can be calibrated without interrupting the ADC's normal operation. The first MUX provides a same reference voltage to the reference comparator as a comparator selected for the calibration, and the second MUX provides the FSM with the output of the selected comparator. The FSM then performs a comparison of the reference comparator and the selected comparator, extracts the polarity of the mismatch, and updates the contents of a memory with the extracted polarity. An offset control in the selected comparator receives a signal corresponding to the extracted polarity stored in the memory and injects offset current into the comparator.
