A method for resetting and reenumerating a Universal Serial Bus (USB) device, an Electrical Fast Transient/Burst (EFTB) unit of a USB device for resetting and reenumerating the USB device and a USB device are described. In one embodiment, a method for resetting and reenumerating a USB device involves detecting a USB reset command from a host device at a USB device, setting a reset flag in the USB device in response to the detecting of the USB reset command, determining if the USB device is in a corrupted state in response to the reset flag, and causing a Single Ended Zero (SE0) signal to be issued to reset the USB device out of the corrupted state and reenumerate the USB device back to the host device if the USB device is determined to be in the corrupted state. Other embodiments are also described.

In one embodiment, a light measurement is acquired from each of a plurality of illumination zones. Each light measurement is digitized, and values derived from the digitized light measurements are stored, proximate to where the light measurements are acquired. The values derived from the digitized light measurements are then transmitted to a central control system, and light emitted by the illumination zones is regulated based on determinations made by the central control system. In some cases, the light measurements may be acquired and transmitted via a light sensor package having: a light sensor providing an analog output proportional to received light; an analog-to-digital converter to convert the analog output of the light sensor to a digital value; a memory to store a value derived from the digital value; and an addressable communication interface to transmit the stored value to an external control system.

System, method and apparatus using addressable light sensors

A direct-firing backlight for a display is designed with a plurality of light emitting regions. Each of a plurality of light sensors is positioned to sense light produced by a corresponding one of the light emitting regions. A control system is operatively associated with the light sensors and light emitting regions. The control system receives information from the light sensors and, in response thereto, regulates light emitted from regions of a display. The regions of the display correspond to the light emitting regions of the direct-firing backlight. Various configurations of such a direct-firing backlight, and related methods, are also disclosed.

A technique for controlling a Light Emitting Diode (LED) based light system involves driving individual light sources that make up the LED-based light system at non-overlapping intervals so that light source-specific feedback signals can be generated in response to the emitted light. The light source-specific feedback signals are then used to individually adjust the light sources to achieve desired luminance and chrominance characteristics of the emitted light.

Method and apparatus for controlling an LED based light system

In one embodiment, a user-selected color point is received. RGB tristimulus values are then derived for the color point. It is also determined whether the user-selected color point is outside a color selection range of the LED light source and, if so, an error flag is set. Pulse width modulated signals for a plurality of LED drivers for the LED light source are also generated. In another embodiment, tristimulus values representing a color of light produced by an LED light source are received. The received tristimulus values are then compared to tristimulus values corresponding to a user-identified color point. In response to the comparison, pulse width modulated signals are generated for a plurality of LED drivers for the LED light source. After a predetermined number of repetitions of these actions, an error flag is set if the user-selected color point has not been achieved by the LED light source.

An apparatus and method thereof for regulating a light source are described. The apparatus includes a light-to-frequency converter that converts light received from the light source into a signal having a corresponding frequency. A circuit coupled to the light-to-frequency converter uses the frequency to regulate light that is emitted from the light source.

Optical feedback for controlling color of light from a light source is provided. Incident optical energy of the light is detected as a function of discrete steps of wavelength. For each discrete step of wavelength, an X, Y and Z tristimulus subvalue is produced. All the X, Y and Z tristimulus subvalues for all the discrete steps are summed together to produce an X, Y and Z tristimulus value for the light. The X, Y and Z tristimulus values are used as feedback in controlling color of the light generated by the light source.

Providing optical feedback on light color

A light source and method for controlling the same. The light source utilizes a light generator that generates a light signal of a wavelength at an intensity that is set by a control signal. The control signal is controlled by a servo that monitors the light output of the light generator and compares the monitored value with a target value. When the target value is changed, the control signal is initially replaced by a predicted control signal based on the new target value rather than the error signal generated in the servo. This provides time for the servo to adjust to the new target value. In one embodiment, the control signal includes a periodic signal that switches between a value that causes the light generator to generate light of the wavelength and a second value at which the light generator does not generate light of the wavelength.

The present invention includes a light source having N light generators, a receiver, and an interface circuit. Each light generator emitting light of a different wavelength, the intensity of light generated by the kgenerator is determined by a signal Icoupled to that light generator. The receiver receives a color coordinate that includes N color components, C, for k=1 to N, wherein N is greater than 1. The interface circuit generates the Ifor k=1 to N from the received color components and a plurality of calibration parameters. The calibration parameters depend on manufacturing variations in the light generators. The calibration parameters have values chosen such that a light signal generated by combining the light emitted from each of the light generators is less dependent on the manufacturing variations in the light generators than a light signal generated when Iis proportional to Cfor k=1 to N.
