A communication device in a communications network receives () first configuration information from a network node in the communications network. The first configuration can include an indication of a downlink, DL, positioning reference signal, PRS, resource of a plurality of DL PRS resources. The communication device can further perform () at least one DL angle of departure, AOD, measurement based on the first configuration information. The communication device can further receive () second configuration information from the network node. The second configuration information can include an indication of a subset of the plurality of DL PRS resources. The communication device can further report () one or more DL AOD measurements.

Resource measurement reporting for beam based positioning

Embodiments include methods for a user equipment (UE) to obtain positioning assistance data associated with a cell of a wireless network. Such methods include receiving a first part of the positioning assistance data associated with the cell from a positioning node via unicast in the cell, and receiving a second part of the positioning assistance data associated with the cell via system information (SI) broadcast in the cell. Such methods also include, based on the second part, determining a persistence indicator associated with the first part, and based on the persistence indicator, selectively requesting an updated first part associated with the cell from a network node of the wireless network. Other embodiments include complementary methods for a positioning node as well as UEs and positioning nodes configured to perform such methods.

Retrieval of positioning assistance data based on persistence information

A wireless device () is configured for radio access technology, RAT, dependent positioning in a wireless communication network (). The wireless device () receives, from a network node (), assistance data () that assists the wireless device () with RAT-dependent positioning, e.g., downlink Observed Time Difference of Arrival. The assistance data () may be based on device-specific information. The device-specific information may for example include a subscription associated with the wireless device (). The wireless device () may perform the RAT-dependent positioning based on assistance from the assistance data ().

Methods and apparatuses provide a mechanism to account for timing errors of a wireless device () in positioning measurements. In one example, a wireless device () performs reference-signal transmissions or measurements and sends information to a network node () that is involved in positioning of the wireless device (). The information indicates associations of the reference-signal transmissions or measurements with respective timing groups of the wireless device (). Each timing group represents a related set of transmission or reception timing errors within the wireless device (). Based on the information, the network node () accounts for the different timing-group associations when performing positioning calculations that are based on the reference-signal transmissions or measurements performed by the wireless device ().

A method performed by a wireless device in an Industrial Internet of Things (I-IoT) environment includes determining an availability level of a network and/or an integrity level of a positioning service and/or system at the wireless device. Embodiments described herein relate to methods and apparatus in networks, and particularly methods, Location Management Functions, base stations and wireless devices for configuring and sending uplink sounding reference signals (UL SRS). An example method performed by a Location Management Function (LMF) comprises receiving radio resource information relating to radio resources that can be applied for UL SRS by a wireless device; and providing a notification relating to triggering aperiodic uplink SRS to a base station serving the wireless device.

Signalling support for NR positioning with aperiodic SRS configurations

A method performed by a wireless device, UE, for configuring a semi-persistent scheduling, SPS is described. In accordance with the method, the UE may be configured to monitor a first search space of a physical downlink control channel for downlink control information, DCI, dedicated to the UE. The method may include receiving from the communication network SPS configuration data to configure a second search space to be monitored by the UE for DCI to activate or de-activate the SPS, the second search space being smaller than the first search space, and monitoring the second search space to detect the DCI to activate or de-activate the SPS. A corresponding method may be performed by a network node.

Activation and de-activation of semi-persistent scheduling

A method performed by a User Equipment (UE) for determining an integrity level of an estimated position of the UE in a radio communications network. The UE obtains information from a network node operating in the radio communications network. The information is about service levels of positioning assistance information provided in the radio communications network. The service levels are related to any one or more out of Integrity (I), Availability (A), and Continuity (C). The UE further obtains positioning assistance information from the network node. The positioning assistance information relates to the established service levels. The UE then determines a positioning strategy based on the information about the service levels. The UE estimating the position of the UE according to the determined positioning strategy, and based on the obtained positioning assistance information, and determines an integrity level of the estimated position of the UE.

According to certain embodiments, a method by a wireless device includes receiving, from a network node, a first indication of a system information data and broadcast status associated with on-demand delivery of the system information data. The wireless device transmits a request for the system information data to the network node while the wireless device is in Radio Resource Control, RRC, Connected Mode. Based on the broadcast status, the wireless device receives the on-demand delivery of the system information data from the network node.

Methods and procedures for enhanced on-demand delivery of positioning assistance data

In an example arrangement, a base station () serving a wireless device () controls the activation time for transmission by the wireless device () of aperiodic or semipersistent Sounding Reference Signals (SRS), but accounts for an activation-time recommendation made by a location server () with which the serving base station () provides its timing information. The arrangement allows the location server (), which has a view of the overall timeline, to recommend an activation time while still leaving the serving base station () in control of the activation time, which the serving base station () shares with the location server (). In turn, the location server () uses the activation time to configure neighboring base stations (), for example, for coordinated reception of the SRS, for positioning the device () via Uplink Observed Time Difference of Arrival (UTDOA) determinations. Activation of the SRS provides, for example, increased SRS density as compared to any ongoing periodic SRS transmissions performed by the wireless device ().

Methods and apparatus for controlling uplink reference signal transmissions in a wireless communication network

Embodiments include methods, performed by a network node, for providing positioning assistance data to one or more user equipment (UEs) in a wireless network. Such methods include determining an angular resolution of angular positioning assistance data for each particular beam of a plurality of beams transmitted by one or more transmission reception points (TRPs) in the wireless network. Such methods also include transmitting, to one or more UEs, the angular positioning assistance data for the plurality of beams. For each particular beam, the angular positioning assistance data includes a first part having a first resolution and, when the determined angular resolution for the particular beam is greater than the first resolution, a second part having a second resolution that is greater than the first resolution. Other embodiments include complementary methods performed by a UE, as well as network nodes and UEs configured to perform such methods.

Methods for signaling beam angular information for UE-based positioning

Embodiments include methods, performed by a network node, for providing positioning assistance data to one or more user equipment (UEs) in a wireless network. Such methods include determining relative location information for one or more transmission reception points (TRPs) in the wireless network based on absolute location information for an associated TRP in the wireless network. Systems and methods for generating and configuring integrity parameters associated with positioning measurements and calculations are provided herein. Integrity KPIs can be defined by a network node for positioning assistance information and location information reporting, and can be provided to a wireless device to assist in assessing the integrity level associated with a positioning estimation.
