The system includes a computed tomography gantry, a cart, a rail system, a rotary bearing and a lifting apparatus. In a translational operating state of the system, the cart is mounted to be movable along the rail system in a first translational motion along the rail system. The computed tomography gantry, the rotary bearing and the lifting apparatus are each held in the cart such that they follow the first translational motion of the cart. In the transitional operating state of the system, the cart is mounted to be movable, via the lifting apparatus, along a vertical axis of rotation relative to the rail system in a lifting motion, wherein the computed tomography gantry is held in the cart and follows the lifting motion of the cart relative to the rail system.

A tomography apparatus has an annular channel and at least one ventilation element for the purpose of drawing off an air current flowing through the annular channel. The ventilation element contains an intake window that is located in the annular channel for the purpose of drawing off at least a portion of the air current. In order to obtain an even flow profile at an output window of the ventilation element, the intake window has a greater effective intake cross-section at both sides than at the middle. By such evening the flow profile at the output window, turbulence and air current interruptions of the air can be generally avoided, such that when operating the tomography apparatus, disrupting acoustic emissions may be reduced, or a higher air flow and thereby a greater cooling effect may be obtained.

A computed tomography apparatus has a gantry for mounting components of an acquisition system that are arranged such that they can rotate around a system axis, and a stationary part in which the gantry is supported such that it can tilt. A device for cooling the components by airflow is arranged on the gantry. The cooling device has at least one feed channel and at least one air discharge channel that are arranged between the stationary part and the gantry so that the air current introduced into the gantry via the stationary part is conducted out from the gantry into the stationary part in a directed manner after cooling the components. The direction of the air current directed from the computed tomography apparatus thus does not depend on the tilt of the gantry. Moreover, the computed tomography apparatus is designed such that cooling is achieved with low noise emission since the direct sound propagation path between the exit opening and the gantry is interrupted.

A gantry for a computed tomography apparatus has a supporting body and a support ring for a rotatable rotary carriage. The supporting body internally exhibits a channel that communicates in terms of flow with the support ring. A cooling ring with a cooling channel is mounted on the radially-inward circumferential side of the support ring. The cross-section of the cooling channel varies in the circumferential direction. The cooling ring exhibits a cooling ring region that has stiffening ribs.

A gantry for a computed tomography apparatus has a rotary carriage that is rotatable around an axis and a support ring arranged around the rotary carriage with a circumferential cooling channel. The support ring has a number of openings distributed around its circumference and forming a non-uniform opening pattern. The rotary carriage likewise has inflow and outflow openings that, in operation, overlap the openings on the stationary part of the computed tomography apparatus such that a coolant flows through between the support ring and the rotary carriage. A steady pressure fluctuation that leads to a reduction of the noise stress in operation ensues thanks to the non-uniform opening pattern.
