An antenna arrangement includes an antenna element and a corresponding feeder line configured to feed a signal to and from the antenna element, and includes a portion of a couplerline spaced apart from but proximate to the antenna element, the feeder line, and a selectivity element. The portion of the couplerline is configured to receive via inductive coupling the signal from one or both of the feeder line and the antenna element, and to transmit a signal via inductive coupling to the feeder line and/or the antenna element. The antenna arrangement includes the selectivity element, which is spaced apart from but proximate to the antenna element, the feeder line, and the portion of the couplerline, and which is configured to select or not select the antenna element for coupling to the portion of the couplerline. An apparatus may include multiple antenna arrangements (with subgroups) and be configured for AAS calibration.

Two input signals are amplified and combined into an output signal by first and second amplification stages and a combiner element. The first amplification stage includes a first signal modification unit and a first amplifier which receives a first input signal and provides a first intermediate signal. The second amplification stage includes at least a second amplifier which receives a second input signal and provides a second intermediate signal. The combiner element combines the first and the second intermediate signals and produces the output signal. In addition, a sensor senses a reflected signal on a signal line connecting the first amplifier and the combiner element and a feedback loop extends between the sensor and the signal modification unit. The signal modification unit is adapted to modify the first input signal depending on a measurement signal output by the first sensor.

Exemplary embodiments of system and method are provided for measuring signal amplitude, phase and/or delay offsets between multiple transmit signals fed through the transmit signal processing chains and wirelessly transmitted over the transceive antennas of separate transceiver modules, wherein transmit signal coupling between the transmit antennas of said transceiver modules' transmit signal processing chains may be used for synchronizing the transmit signals and calibrating their amplitude, phase and/or delay parameters. The exemplary embodiments further provide a front end arrangement of a wireless transceiver device which can comprise at least two independently controllable transceiver modules, each connected to an associated spatial diversity transceive antenna and comprising at least one associated transmit signal processing chain and at least one associated receive signal processing chain coupled to a common baseband processing unit. The exemplary transceiver architecture can be executed on an antenna loop between the transmit signal processing chain of a first transceiver module and the transmit signal processing chain of a second transceiver over the air interface and relies on an adaptive antenna concept which facilitates a wireless transmission of data via a plurality of wireless communication channels utilizing an array of transceive antennas, receiving feedback information via at least one of said communication channels using such antenna loop and modifying a transmission mode based on the received feedback information.

A method of controlling a satellite communication system, a timing unit, and a control unit of a timing unit. The method comprises dividing the coverage area of the satellite communication system into one or several geographical areas; positioning one or several timing units in at least one geographical area; determining which of the satellites of the satellite communication system are visible in each particular geographical area; controlling the timing unit with a control unit, in order to minimize the time difference within the system, to listen to one or several satellites visible in each particular geographical area, the signals received from the satellites by the timing unit fulfilling a predetermined condition; synchronizing a predetermined number of geographical areas with each other by means of the control unit of the system such that the time difference within the system is minimized in a predetermined combination area of geographical areas.

The invention relates to an arrangement and method for combining electric signals. The arrangement comprises: an antenna element () for receiving first electric signals from the environment; a receiver cable () in connection with the antenna element () for carrying the first electric signals; at least one antenna feeder cable () for carrying second electric signals; a transmitting antenna () in connection with said at least one antenna feeder cable () for transmitting the second electric signals, and at least one cable coupler () in said receiver cable (), in which the polarity of said at least one cable coupler () is reversed in order to induce a local leakage current. Enhancement of the field pattern of a device for transferring electromagnetic waves

The invention relates to a method for calculating an absolute time difference in a radio system, and to a radio system. In the radio system, location measurement units are maintained, the location measurement units receiving signals from base transceiver stations; a reference time for the reference base transceiver station and the detected time differences of the base transceiver stations are specified; the reference time of the reference base transceiver station and the detected time differences of the other base transceiver stations are reported; a computational absolute time is calculated; a corrected absolute time for the reference base transceiver station is calculated by using the computational absolute time, the reported reference base transceiver station reference time and a correction coefficient. Finally, the corrected absolute time and the detected time differences are used for calculating the absolute time differences, and the computational absolute time differences are stored.
