Seismic survey system and method for adjusting positions of plural autonomous receiver nodes (ARNs) of a seismic survey system. Systems and methods for acquiring blended and unblended seismic data during a single seismic survey. The blended and unblended seismic data is generated with a plurality of sources that are fired in a dedicated sequence. The sequence involves firing all the sources at a first time, advancing the sources along a given path, firing only a first source at a second time, later than the first time, advancing the sources, firing again all the sources at a third time, later than the second time, advancing the sources, firing only a second source at a fourth time, later than the third time, and so on until a desired subsurface is fully surveyed.

Presented are methods and a system for efficiently acquiring seismic data based on a virtual seismic spread. A streamer vessel and a source vessel are used in combination and in a specific spatial arrangement collect seismic data. The source arrays can be fired simultaneously, creating blended seismic data that is separated with a deblending algorithm or sequentially to collect seismic data directly. The virtual seismic spread can be configured to reduce survey time or decrease capital costs and health safety and environment exposure based on the size of the streamer array towed by the streamer vessel.

Methods and systems for similarity indicator calculation associated with seismic data acquisition are described. A similarity indicator value can, for example, be based on a normalized partitioned intensity uniformity (PIU) metric. In another aspect, shot imprints are compared by mapping a base (reference) shot imprint onto a current sample of a shot imprint before calculating the similarity indicator value. The similarity indicator value is associated with the shot imprint location used in the calculation and allows re-shooting of only the areas where an insufficient quality of shot data is detected based on a preconfigured threshold value for the similarity indicator.

Methods and systems are presented for generating and performing a seismic data acquisition mission based on an a priori sea current model and a seismic data acquisition operation model and a shooting solution model based on the a priori sea current model. The individual models can be updated based on releasing sample buoys through the survey area both before and during mission execution.

A method for detecting faults of individual wave sources in a marine source array includes acquiring near-field data using sensors, the sensors being located near the individual wave sources. The method further includes generating an index for each of the individual wave sources based on (A) the near-field data and (B) information on the geometry of the marine source array that enables localizing the individual wave sources and respective sensors relative to one another. The method also includes comparing the index for each of the individual wave sources with a corresponding reference index for determining whether a fault has occurred.

A method controls a delay of an air-gun in an aquatic seismic source. The method includes a step of receiving an attribute of the air-gun during the aquatic seismic survey; a step of calculating, based on a time-delay algorithm that uses the attribute, the asynchronization time of the air-gun; a step of determining whether the asynchronization time is smaller than a given time threshold; a step of instructing a controller to (1) wait for a predetermined time before calculating again the asynchronization time of the air-gun if the asynchronization time is smaller than the given time threshold, or (2) calculate an updated asynchronization time for the air-gun based on the attribute if the asynchronization time is larger than the given time threshold; and a step of sending the updated asynchronization time to a gun controller of the air-gun for adjusting a delay time for firing the air-gun.

Method and device for dynamic control of delays in gun controller

A device, medium and method for de-blending seismic data associated with a subsurface of the earth. The method includes receiving blended seismic data, wherein the blended seismic data includes traces having energies from two or more different shots that partially overlap; applying an apex-shifted radon transform (ASRT) to the blended seismic data to transform it from a first domain to a second domain; applying a mute processing for removing all shots except a first shot in the second domain; applying a reverse ASRT to the given shot to obtain the first shot in the first domain; and generating an image of the subsurface based on the first shot in the first domain. The procedure may be iteratively repeated to separate all shots.
