Provided are a method and an arrangement for feeding process gases from a suspension smelting furnace into a waste heat boiler. The arrangement comprises a feeding throat for feeding process gas. The feeding throat is connected to an uptake inner space at an exit. The feeding throat is connected to the waste heat boiler at an entrance. The feeding throat having a feeding channel comprising a channel inner roof. At least one of an uptake inner roof of the uptake of the suspension smelting furnace and the channel inner roof of the feeding channel of the feeding throat is provided with an angled and/or curved section that slopes at least partly downwardly in an angled and/or curved manner in the direction towards the entrance.

Method and arrangement for feeding process gases from a suspension smelting furnace into a waste heat boiler

The invention relates to a method for treating solids-containing process gas in a suspension smelting furnace, comprising directing the process gas from the reaction shaft of the suspension smelting furnace to a lower furnace and, further, through a raised shaft to a waste heat boiler to cool the process gas, whereby, through one or more gas nozzles placed on the lower furnace top wall, oxidizing gas is fed into the process gas flowing in the lower furnace, whereby the amount of oxidizing gas is adjusted during the process so that the amount of sulphides contained in the solid matter of the process gas that is directed to the waste heat boiler is minimized. The invention also relates to the equipment.

Method and equipment for treating process gas

A sealing device is arranged around a rod electrode extending vertically through an aperture made in the ceiling of an arc furnace and being vertically movable inside the furnace to prevent the access of gases from the furnace through the aperture to the atmosphere, and on the other hand to prevent air from flowing from the atmosphere into the furnace. The sealing device comprises a gas distribution chamber provided with an inlet channel for feeding essentially passive gas, such as nitrogen or air, into the gas distribution chamber. The sealing device also includes a slit nozzle encasing the electrode, through which nozzle a gas jet is arranged to be discharged from the gas distribution chamber towards the electrode in a direction that is at an angle with respect to the horizontal plane and has a slightly upwards inclined orientation, and that is, with respect to the furnace interior, pointed outwardly, so that the sealing is carried out owing to the effect of the created stagnation pressure.

A cooling element to be used in connection with a metallurgical furnace or the like is made mainly of copper and includes water cooling channels.
