The invention relates to a method for packaging rolls, particularly paper web rolls; the method includes the steps of taking a roll into a supported position on a roll rotation station and wrapping onto the roll a paper wrapper or the like material dispensed by means of at least one wrapper dispensing station and dispensing means, whereby the wrapper is wound so as to form either a centered wrapping or an overlapping wrapping. The invention is implemented by way of aligning the roll for the wrapping operation by means of transferring the roll rotation station laterally in the axial direction of the roll in regard to the wrapper dispensing system. The invention also relates to an apparatus and a novel roll package utilizing the method.

Method of packaging rolls, particularly paper web rolls, apparatus for implementing the method and roll package

A package of a roll, particularly a paper web roll comprising a wrapper, particularly a paper web wrapper wound stagewise into at least two wrappings about the roll in an overlap fashion. The paper web wrapper is wound about the roll in a slightly helical manner so that the edges of the wrapper layers overlap in a staggered fashion. The staggered edges of the overlap wrapping are formed so that each superposed wrapper layer conceals the underlying wrapper layer, whereby in a finished wrapping of a product only one wrapper edge remains visible.

Roll package

An apparatus supplies steam into a silo via holes provided in the bottom (3) of the silo and via channels (8) provided below the silo. The steam supply channel (8) is provided with a feed connection through which the steam to be fed into the silo is passed into the steam supply channel (8). Furthermore, the channel (8) is provided with steam feed nozzles (17) placed under the holes in the bottom (3) of the silo. The nozzle (17) is preferably provided with a mounting flange (21) which is fastened to the lower part of the channel (8), making it easy to remove the nozzle (17).

Apparatus for supplying steam into a silo

An apparatus for supplying steam into a silo (1) having a bottom (3), a wall and a discharger with a discharger arm (6) placed in the lower part of the silo. The discharger is mounted in the bottom of the silo by a bearing. The silo is provided with a steam supplying element, such as a steam feed pipe (14), extending from the central part of the bottom (3) into the interior of the silo. The feed pipe (14) is preferably passed through the bearing of the discharger and the end of the pipe (14) is provided with a cap (16) protecting the nozzles (15).

Apparatus for steaming a material in a silo

The invention relates to a procedure and an apparatus for feeding solid material into a pressurized space. According to the invention, the apparatus comprises a feed chamber (12) communicating with the pressurized space (1) via a gate (13), a piston cylinder (8) adjoining the feed chamber (12) and provided with an aperture (28) in its wall for the intake of solid material, and a piston (9) which consists of an inner and an outer piston (11,10), moves within the piston cylinder (8) and closes the feed chamber (12) tightly when in its front position. The inner piston (11) moves inside the outer piston (10) and in the feed chamber (12) to insert the solid material into the pressurized space (1). In the procedure of the invention, the solid material is supplied into the feed chamber (12) through the piston cylinder (8) and the aperture (28) in its wall while the piston (9) is in its rear position, the piston (9) is thrust into its front position so that the feed chamber (12) is tightly closed, a pressure corresponding to that in the pressurized space (1) is formed in the feed chamber (12), the gate (13) between the pressurized space (1) and the feed chamber (12) is opened and the inner piston (11) is thrust into its front position.
