A method and apparatus for point-to-point wireless communication between a first wireless communication device, the first wireless communication device configured as an on-body device and a second wireless communication device. A distance between the first wireless communication device and the second wireless communication device by a ranging measurement is determined. In response to the distance being less than a distance threshold value, data of a first data type is transmitted from the first wireless communication device to the second wireless communication device. In response to the distance being greater than the distance threshold value, data of a second data type is transmitted from the first wireless communication device to the second wireless communication device.

A method and apparatus are described for bio-impedance measurement using voltage to current conversion. In one example, a bio-impedance transducer includes an input stage to receive a bio-impedance signal having an oscillating voltage from two electrodes, the electrodes being coupled to a body, a resistance across the two electrodes to determine an alternating current of the bio-impedance signal, a gain stage coupled to the resistance to amplify the alternating current, a down converter coupled to the gain stage to convert the amplified alternating current to a direct current bio-impedance signal, and an analog-to-digital converter coupled to the down converter to convert the direct current bio-impedance signal to a digital bio-impedance signal.

A mobile hearable device for communicating with a vehicle control system is described. The mobile hearable device includes a microphone, and a wireless transceiver configured as one of a near field magnetic induction (NFMI) transceiver and a near field electromagnetic induction (NFEMI) transceiver. The mobile hearable device includes a processor coupled to the transceiver and the microphone. The processor receives a location identifier via the transceiver from a location identification transmitter located in a vehicle, the location identification transmitter is configured as one of a NFMI transmitter and a NFEMI transmitter. If the processor receives a speech signal from a user of the mobile hearable device, it determines whether the speech signal includes an actuator control command and generates a control instruction comprising the actuator control command and the location identifier. The control instruction is transmitted to a vehicle control system and used to control an actuator in a vehicle dependent on the location of the person using the mobile hearable device.

A wearable safety apparatus including a body area network (BAN) transceiver for communicating with a user-controlled apparatus is described. The BAN transceiver includes a processor coupled to a BAN antenna. The processor is configured to receive an identification data request from a user-controlled apparatus in response to an action request of a user of the wearable safety apparatus; and to transmit identification data to the user-controlled apparatus in response to the identification data request. The identification data validates the user action by the user-controlled apparatus. The identification data request is only received when the wearable safety apparatus and the user-controlled apparatus are in contact with the user.

In one example, an analog front end includes an electrode driver stage coupled to electrodes of an electrochemical sensor, and measurement channels coupled to the electrode driver stage to receive an electrode signal from the electrodes of the electrochemical sensor and to generate measurement results, the measurement channels configured to switch configurations to perform different measurements.

A method and apparatus of access control as described. A touch of a touch zone of an access controller including a body area network (BAN) transceiver is detected. In response to detecting the touch, a request from an access controller comprising a BAN transceiver via a body area network is transmitted to a user of a portable device including a BAN transceiver and a biometric sensor. The request is received by the portable device via the BAN network. In response to receiving the request, the portable device transmits a digital key comprising biometric data detected by the biometric sensor and a digital identifier from the portable device to the access controller via the BAN network. The user is authenticated by the access controller using the digital key. The access controller controls and actuator to lock or unlock a door in response to the user being authenticated.

Embodiments of a clock distribution device and a method of clock distribution are described. In one embodiment, a clock distribution device includes a stacked clock driver circuit configured to perform clock signal charge recycling on input clock signals that swing between different voltage ranges and a load circuit. The stacked clock driver circuit includes stacked driver circuits configured to generate output clock signals that swing between the different voltage ranges. The load circuit includes load networks of different semiconductor types. Each of the load networks are configured to be driven by one of the output clock signals. Stacked clock distribution for low power devices

The invention provides a clock select circuit and method which uses feedback arrangements between latches in different branches, with each branch for coupling an associated clock signal to the circuit output. An override circuit is provided in one of the feedback arrangements for preventing a latching delay in that feedback arrangement. This enables rapid switching between clocks in both directions.

A power supply arrangement is for supplying power to a chip core. A dc-dc converter arrangement is used both for a wake-up state of the core in preparation for an active state, and for a shut down charge recycling state in which the core supplies charge to the dc-dc converter. Thus, the dc-dc converter arrangement functions both to control powering on of the core in an efficient manner and the powering down of the core to implement charge recycling. In an active state, the core is supplied with power from the high power supply line.
