Wire electrical discharge machining method

The invention relates to a pulse generator module () for electric discharge machines which comprises a generator enclosure () containing printed circuit boards (PCBs), wherein at least one of the PCBs is a generator board (). The PCBs () are all arranged in one plane.

Electric discharge machine

An expansion of known serial data links, for example ETHERNET, published in IEEE802.3, for directly transmitting random events without having to carry out synchronization with a clock signal or having to wait for a cyclical transmission time. Two different, random events are represented using two differently coded individual pulses and are transmitted in an event-controlled manner. A jitter-free latency of 45 ns between the event and its reception is possible over a line length of 8 m, for example. The expansion is particularly suitable for the short, digital data links between a node and a plurality of modules, as are required in modern electrical discharge machines, machine tools and similar electronic systems.

The invention relates to a circuit board unit and a method for production thereof. The circuit board unit comprises a circuit board topmost laminate with conductive tracks on the upper side for mounting surface-mountable devices. The circuit board topmost laminate features a thickness dimensioned such that the anticipated heat dissipated by the surface-mountable devices is transported from the upper side to the underside of the circuit board laminate to good effect. The circuit board unit further comprises an electrically insulating laminate arranged under the circuit board topmost laminate, inserts made of a material with good heat conductivity and electrical insulation embedded in the electrically insulating laminate at sites below surface-mountable devices with high heat dissipation, and a cooling plate arranged below the electrically insulating laminate and the inserts.

The invention relates to a method and a generator for generating a time sequence of discharge pulses separated from each other by pulse pauses for electrical discharge machining. At least two pulse capacitors are discharged each in the form of a partial pulse into the spark gap for forming together a discharge pulse. A discharge pulse having a predetermined waveform is selected from a plurality of discharge pulses having differing predetermined waveforms. The discharge of the at least two pulse capacitors is controlled such that the selected discharge pulse is generated with the predetermined waveform.

Method and generator for electrical discharge machining

The invention relates to a method and generator for generating a time sequence of EDM pulses having a predefined ignition voltage for electrical discharge machining. An AC voltage is generated from a DC voltage, furnished by a bipolar current source. The AC voltage is applied to an isolating transformer disposed between the bipolar current source and the spark gap. A first pulse capacitor is charged by the bipolar current source to a voltage corresponding to the ignition voltage. The ignition voltage provided by the isolating transformer is switched with a selected polarity to the spark gap.

The invention relates to a method and a generator for generating a time sequence of discharge pulses for EDM machining wherein a pulse capacitor () for generating the discharge pulse is charged with a charging voltage (U_chrg) and then discharged into the spark gap. An apparatus and a method of generating machining pulses for electrical discharge machining by discharge of at least one line applying a voltage to a working gap formed between a machining electrode and a workpiece, including the steps of: charging the line via a first charging circuit by a voltage source, discharging the line after ignition of the spark gap directly via a diode, without impedance matching, at the working gap, and recharging the line after a predefined pulse-off time.

Method and apparatus for generating machining pulses for electrical discharge machining

A method and apparatus for wire cutting electric discharge machining to achieve precise surfaces with R,<0.1 microns. An intermittent operation is used with erosion pulses for primarily machining and erosion pulses for measuring any excursion of the wire electrode from the rest position. An evaluation unit is used to determine any excursions of the wire electrode from the rest position that might have been present during the preceding machining time, and a controller controls the machining process so that the wire electrode is practically straight during electroerosion.

Method for electric discharge machining of a workpiece and corresponding apparatus

EDM according to the present invention involves an intermttent type of operation between erosion pulses and measurement pulses in order to circumvent an interfering self-control effect of an electrode during fine machining. To achieve shorter processing times, higher precision and better reproducibility, the method and apparatus determine with an electrical measurement the amount that an electrode is in contact with a workpiece during a measurement time that erosion has been interrupted. A pulse duty factor is then obtained from the contact amount to control further processing via, for example, the duration of the erosion pulses.

Method and apparatus for electrical discharge machining with intermittent electrical measuring

A method of precision electric-discharge machining carried out in apparatus of moderately high precision and stability with an electrode in the form of a wire. The object is a surface as smooth as the surface that can be obtained with the more expensive very high-precision apparatus. The contour of work that has already been roughed out at least once is accordingly exploited as a geometrical reference for at least one finishing cut. The gap is maintained constant by fine adjustments.
