A system includes a balun, a power monitoring circuit, a first circuit, and a second circuit. The balun includes a first inductor to receive an input and a second inductor to couple the input to a load. The power monitoring circuit is configured to monitor an amount of power being delivered to the load when the input is coupled to the load. The first circuit is configured to couple an entire of the second inductor to the first inductor when a first power is delivered to the load. The second circuit is configured to couple a portion of the second inductor to the first inductor when a second power that is less than the first power is delivered to the load.

Tunable balun

Some of the embodiments of the present disclosure provide a receiver comprising a class AB common-gate transformer-based low noise transconductance amplifier (LNT) configured to receive an electromagnetic signal, a passive resonant mixer electrically connected to (i) an output port of the class AB common-gate transformer-based LNT and (ii) a local oscillator. The passive resonant mixer can be configured to reject at least one harmonic of the local oscillator. The receiver also comprises a base-band module electrically connected to an output port of the passive resonant mixer.

Analog front end receivers with resonant mixer configured to reject local oscillator harmonics

A voltage-controlled oscillator comprises a tank circuit and first and second pairs of transistors. Each transistor comprises a gate, a drain, and a source. The drains of the first pair are coupled to the tank circuit and the gates of the first pair are cross-coupled with the drains of the first pair. The drains of the second pair are coupled to the tank circuit and the gates of the second pair are cross-coupled with the drains of the second pair. The oscillator includes a first resonant filter comprising a first terminal coupled to the sources of the first pair and a second resonant filter comprising a first terminal coupled to the sources of the second pair. A method includes adjusting capacitance in a resonant filter to cause the resonant filter to resonate based on a selected frequency.

Voltage-controlled oscillator

In one embodiment, an apparatus includes an upconversion unit configured to upconvert a baseband signal to a radio frequency (RF) signal. A plurality of baluns for a plurality of wireless bands are provided. Multiplexing circuitry is coupled to the plurality of baluns where the upconversion unit is coupled to each balun through the multiplexing circuitry. The multiplexing circuitry is configured to multiplex the radio frequency signal from the upconversion unit to one of the plurality of baluns based on a wireless band being used.

Transmit architecture for wireless multi-mode applications

An analog to digital converter including a low pass filter element, a quantizer, and a digital to analog converter provide in a feedback path. The low pass filter element is configured to filter an analog input signal. The quantizer is configured to receive an analog output signal that is based on the filtered analog input signal and convert the analog output signal to a digital output signal. The digital to analog converter is configured to generate an analog feedback signal based on the digital output signal and selectively inject or absorb current associated with the feedback path to reduce noise associated with the digital to analog converter. The analog feedback signal is combined with the analog input signal at an input of the low pass filter element.

In accordance with an embodiment of the disclosure, circuits and methods are provided for using a reconfigurable voltage controlled oscillator to support multi-mode applications. A voltage control oscillator circuit comprises a resonant circuit, a first oscillator circuitry coupled to the resonant circuit, and a second oscillator circuitry coupled to the resonant circuit. The voltage control oscillator circuit further comprises switching circuitry configured to select, based on an operating metric, one of the first oscillator circuitry and the second oscillator circuitry for providing an output voltage.

Reconfigurable voltage controlled oscillator for supporting multi-mode applications

Devices and methods capable of correcting for distortion are disclosed. For example, a method for compensating for non-idealities in a frequency-conversion circuit having a high-frequency input side separated from a baseband side by a passive mixer is presented. The method includes injecting a plurality of calibration signals in the baseband side to determine cross-talk between an In-phase (I) portion of the baseband side and a Quadrature (Q) portion of the baseband side to produce a first measurement &#x393;and a second measurement &#x393;, synthesizing a crosstalk compensation filter g(&#x3c9;) based on the first measurement &#x393;and the second measurement &#x393;, and applying the crosstalk compensation filter g(&#x3c9;) to an output of the frequency-conversion circuit.

Baseband filter calibration methods and systems

In one embodiment, an apparatus includes a first block configured to decompose an input signal into a positive component and a negative component. The apparatus further includes a second block configured to generate a mixer positive driver component from the positive component and a mixer negative driver component from the negative component and input the mixer positive driver component and the negative driver component into a mixer for a wireless transmitter.

Output stage for wireless transmitter

An apparatus increases the dynamic range of a time to digital converter. The apparatus includes: an input network configured to receive a first signal, a second signal, and a control signal having a sign value; and a time-to-digital converter (TDC) configured to generate a digital code value that represents a time delay value between the first signal and the second signal. The input network is configured to switch where the first signal and second signal are output in response to the sign value that is determined by the time delay value between the first signal and the second signal.

Apparatus for doubling the dynamic range of a time to digital converter

A system including a clock generator configured to generate a clock; a plurality of analog-to-digital converters each configured to convert a signal based on the clock, and to output a first number of bits in response to converting the signal based on the clock; and an averaging module configured to receive the first number of bits from each of the plurality of analog-to-digital converters, and to output a second number of bits. The second number of bits is greater than the first number of bits.

Scalable successive-approximation-register analog-to-digital converter

Aspects of the disclosure can provide a second order low pass filter. The second order low pass filter can work in current domain, and have high linearity for in-band signals and out-of-band signals. The second order low pass filter can include a MOS transistor having a gate terminal, a current input terminal and a current output terminal, a first capacitor coupled between the current input terminal and a ground connection and a second capacitor coupled between the gate terminal and the current input terminal.

Method and apparatus for filtering

A filtering analog to digital converter (ADC) includes an integrator receiving at its input an analog input signal. A filtering capacitor at the input of the integrator filters out a large portion of out-of-band interferers in the analog input signal. The integrator produces an output that is quantized to produce a digital output. A feedback path between the quantizer output and the integrator input includes a digital to analog converter (DAC).

Continuous time sigma-delta ADC with embedded low-pass filter

In one embodiment, the present disclosure includes an amplifier comprising first and second output stages. The first output stage receives first power supply voltages and the second output stage receives second power supply voltages greater than the first power supply voltages. A switching stage configures the output stages to provide a first current to an amplifier output node from the first output stage when a magnitude of a voltage on the output node is below a first value, provide a second current to the output node from the second output stage when the magnitude of the voltage on the output node is above a second value greater than the first value, and provide a third current to the output node from both the first output stage and the second output stage when the magnitude of the voltage on the output node is between the first value and the second value.
