The present invention provides a method, a network device and a system for allowing for resuming a preceding incomplete synchronization session is provided, wherein the preceding incomplete synchronization session has been interrupted during its performing. In principle the resuming of the preceding incomplete synchronization session is based on the following operations according to the inventive concept. A communication connection for synchronization of data between a first and a second device is establishing. The first and the second device comprise each a predefined set of data records to be synchronized. A first and a second update identifier are communicated between the first and the second device. The first update identifier specifies a preceding complete synchronization session having been performed between them and the second update identifier specifies a preceding incomplete synchronization session having been performed between them. Synchronization related information is exchanged between the first and the second device. The herein exchanged synchronization related information comprises that part of synchronization related information which has not been exchanged during the preceding incomplete synchronization session. Data in the first device and the second device is synchronized in accordance with the exchanged synchronization related information. The contents of the first update identifier is updated with the contents of the second update identifier.

Method, device and system for synchronizing of data providing for the handling of an interrupted synchronization process

The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for arranging data synchronization is a synchronization system which comprises at least a first synchronization device and a second synchronization device. The synchronization system defines binding data which associates a user data unit of the first synchronization device with at least one function of the first synchronization device. A first synchronization step is performed between the first synchronization device and the second synchronization device, the step comprising transferring the user data unit from the first synchronization device to the second synchronization device. After the first synchronization step has been performed, a second synchronization step is performed where binding data is transferred from the first synchronization device to the second synchronization device. Binding is formed in the second synchronization device between the user data unit and at least one function of the second synchronization device in accordance with the binding data.

Data synchronization

The present invention provides a method for generating a request for information about a data store. The request codes a data store descriptor which is used to characterize or identify a matching data store from a plurality of data stores. The re-transmitted information comprises retrieved information necessary for the requesting device or the applications executed thereon to access the identified data store, respectively. The present invention provides a method for generating a response in consequence on receiving a request for information a about data store. The data store descriptor coded in the request is used to characterize or identify a matching data store from a plurality of data stores and information about the data store is retrieved. This retrieved information coded in a response is transmitted to the previously requesting device enabling the requesting device or the applications executed thereon to access the identified data store, respectively.

Method and device for retrieving data store access information

A method of arranging data synchronization of at least one application in a networked system, which comprises at least one terminal, at least one synchronization server, a first database in the terminal, and a second database. In the method, a configuration message is formed which comprises data required for the application data synchronization, said data comprising settings of at least the second database. The configuration message is transmitted from the synchronization server to the terminal. A synchronization connection is arranged between the terminal and the synchronization server to perform the synchronization. Application data synchronization in telecommunications system

The invention relates to a method of limiting the size of synchronization messages between a first synchronization device and a second synchronization device. The first device specifies a maximum message size for synchronization messages to be sent to the first device and transmits information on the maximum message size to the second device. The second device transmits to the first device one or more synchronization messages which are equal to or smaller than the maximum message size of the first device.

A method of arranging synchronization of databases, the method comprising the steps of establishing a transport layer connection for synchronization between a first and a second device which synchronize databases. During initialization of synchronization a first update identifier, which is stored at least in the first device and describes the latest synchronization event the devices have performed in the databases, and a second update identifier, which is defined by the first device and describes the present synchronization, are transmitted from the first device to the second device. The second update identifier is stored in the first and the second device. The contents of the first update identifiers stored in the devices are updated in the first and the second device if synchronization has been performed and after this said transport layer connection has been ended substantially properly.

Synchronization of database data

A method for arranging a packet radio service in a wireless telecommunication system comprising at least one mobile station. The method comprises activating in the mobile station at least one packet data context for packet-switched data transmission of an application in the mobile station. In the mobile station, a busy condition is automatically set for the packet data context for suspension situations. When the packet data context in the mobile station is requested to be suspended, the packet data context is prevented from being suspended in response to the packet data context suspension request being received from outside the application.
