Methods, systems and apparatuses for computer-generated visualization of speech are described herein. An example method of computer-generated visualization of speech including at least one segment includes: generating a graphical representation of an object corresponding to a segment of the speech; and displaying the graphical representation of the object on a screen of a computing device. Generating the graphical representation includes: representing a duration of the respective segment by a length of the object and representing intensity of the respective segment by a width of the object; and placing, in the graphical representation, a space between adjacent objects.

The method may include associating one or more individual interaction units of the plurality of interaction units with a corresponding interaction unit type in accordance with pre-determined definitions of types of interaction units, generating feedback responsive to the associating of an individual interaction unit with an interaction unit type, wherein the feedback is based on the type of the individual interaction unit, storing a sequence of interaction unit types of the individual interaction units associated with corresponding interaction unit types, and generating a descriptor of the sequence based at least on contextual information derived, at least in part, from the sensor data.

Methods and apparatuses for interfacing with a user based on the detection of a state, such as a stationary state, of the apparatus and providing a response based on the state of the apparatus are described herein. An example method of interfacing with a user includes: detecting a user in proximity of an apparatus; entering a first mode of the apparatus responsive to detection of the user in proximity; receiving motion data from one or more sensors of the apparatus responsive to movement of the apparatus; and detecting a stationary state of the apparatus based on the motion data; and entering a second mode responsive to detection of the stationary state.

Devices, systems, and methods for empathetic computing are described. A method of interfacing with an empathetic computing system may include the steps of receiving sensor data from sensors of an empathetic computing device, wherein the sensor data is generated by user interaction with the empathetic computing device, the user interaction comprising a plurality of interaction units, receiving contextual information associated with the user interaction, classifying the sensor data as a sequence of interaction units using stored associations between exemplary sensor data and pre-determined interaction units, and providing feedback with the empathetic computing device, wherein the feedback is based, at least in part, on the sequence of interaction units and the contextual information.

Devices, systems, and methods for empathetic computing are described herein. An example empathetic computing device includes an enclosure configured to fit into the palm of a user. The enclosure may have an upper portion and a lower portion and comprise an interface board, a processor, and a touch sensor. The interface board may have a plurality of light emitting devices configured to provide a light pattern of a visual response. The processor may be coupled to a memory device. The touch sensor may be configured to detect the touch of the user. The touch sensor may comprise a touch belt disposed along the enclosure circumferentially and a touch pad.
