A hydraulic hose assembly is provided for connecting hydraulic components of a bicycle. The hydraulic hose assembly has a flexible hose, a rigid tubular insert, connecting fastener and a tubular bushing. The compression bushing surrounds the flexible hose in order that the connecting fastener can be tightened to compress the bushing into a watertight seal. The compression bushing has an annular recess that is located between a pair of inclined sections. The annular recess is configured to limit the amount of radial expansion of the outer diameter of the bushing when the hydraulic hose assembly is coupled to the bicycle component.

Hydraulic hose assembly for bicycle

A piston assembly is provided for a disc brake assembly to reduce the heat transferred to the hydraulic fluid of the disc brake assembly during braking. The piston assembly preferably includes a piston and a heat insulator designed to be movably coupled to a caliper housing to move a friction member between a release position and a braking position The piston has an internal recess to partially receive the heat insulator. The heat insulator is disposed between the piston and the friction member to reduce heat transfer from the friction member to the piston. Specifically, the piston and the heat insulator are configured to use air spaces to reduce heat transfer from the friction member to the piston.

Piston assembly for a disc brake

A disc brake assembly is provided with heat insulators to reduce the heat transferred to the hydraulic fluid of the disc brake assembly during braking. The disc brake assembly includes a caliper housing, a first and a second friction member coupled to the caliper housing and one or more pistons movably coupled to the caliper housing to move one or both of the friction members. The first and second friction members form a rotor receiving slot. At least the first friction member is movably coupled to the caliper housing and the piston is movably coupled to the caliper housing to move the first friction member between a release position and a braking position. Each piston has an internal recess to partially receive the heat insulator. The heat insulator is disposed between the piston and the first friction member to prevent heat transfer from the first friction member to the piston. The heat insulator has a first end with a first end surface received in the recess of the piston, a second end with a second end surface spaced from the first end surface and a side wall extending between the first and second end surfaces. The second end is partially received in the recess of the piston and the side wall has a protrusion extending from the side wall to space the heat insulator from the piston. Alternatively, a heat insulator is provided that has a first end with a first end surface received in the recess of the piston, a second end with a second end surface spaced from the first end surface and a side wall extending between the first and second end surfaces. The second end is partially received in the recess of the piston and has a groove formed in the second end surface.

Heat insulator for disc brake

A roll back seal is provided for a disc brake assembly that reliably returns a piston to a release position from a braking position with an extended sealing life. The disc brake assembly includes a caliper housing with at least one piston receiving opening, first and second friction members coupled to the caliper housing and one or more pistons movably coupled to the caliper housing to move one or both of the friction members. The first and second friction members form a rotor receiving slot. At least the first friction member is movably coupled to the caliper housing and at least one piston is movably coupled in at least one piston receiving opening of the caliper housing to move the first friction member between a release position and a braking position. The piston receiving opening has an annular side wall with an annular groove formed therein. The annular roll back seal is located in the annular groove between the caliper housing and the piston. The roll back seal has first and second annular end surfaces and inner and outer annular sealing surfaces extending between the first end surface and the second end surface. The second end surface has an annular recess formed therein.
