An apparatus including at least one processor and at least one memory including computer program code configured to: when the apparatus is in a voice phone call mode of sound capture, output a signal from a first microphone as a primary speech signal, and select one or more second microphones to output a noise reduction signal, where the apparatus comprises at least two of the second microphones, and where selection of the one or more second microphones is based at least partially upon a determined use of the apparatus being either a handportable or an integrated handsfree use; and/or when the apparatus is in a multi-media mode of sound capture select one or more of the microphones to output audio signals based upon both a determined type of sound capture feature being used by the apparatus and based upon a determined orientation of the apparatus.

Audio capture with multiple microphones

An apparatus comprising: an input configured to receive at least three microphone audio signals, the at least three microphone audio signals comprising at least two near microphone audio signals generated by at least two near microphones located near to an desired audio source and at least one farmic audio signal generated by a farmic located further from the desired audio source; a first interference canceller module configured to generate a first processed audio signal based on a first selection from the near microphone audio signals; at least one further interference canceller module configured to generate at least one further processed audio signal based on at least one further selection from the at least three microphone audio signals; a comparator configured to determine from the first processed audio signal and the at least one further processed audio signal the audio signal with greater noise suppression.

Noise reduction in multi-microphone systems

The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for processing an audio signal, wherein the method comprises the steps of: filtering an audio signal into at least two frequency band signals, generating for each frequency band signal a plurality of sub-band signals, wherein for at least one frequency band signal the plurality of sub-band signals are generated using a time to frequency domain transform and for the at least one other frequency band the plurality of sub-band signals for the other frequency band are generated using a sub-band filterbank, and the apparatus comprises at least one processor and at least one memory including computer program code, the at least one memory and the computer program code being configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to perform the method.

Method and an apparatus for processing an audio signal using noise suppression or echo suppression

An apparatus comprising at least one processor and at least one memory including computer program code the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus at least to perform: filtering an audio signal into at least three frequency band signals; generating for each frequency band signal a plurality of sub-band signals; processing at least one sub-band signal from at least one frequency band; and combining the processed sub-band signals to form a combined processed audio signal.

Disclosed herein is an apparatus. The apparatus includes a first audio input device, a second audio input device, an analog to digital converter, a voice activity detector, and a position detector. The first audio input device is configured to receive a first audio signal. The second audio input device is configured to receive a second audio signal. The analog to digital converter is connected to the first and the second audio input devices. The voice activity detector is connected to the analog to digital converter. The voice activity detector is configured to receive input from the first and the second audio input devices. The position detector is connected to the voice activity detector. The position detector is configured to determine a position of the apparatus and classify the audio signals based on, at least partially, a ratio of the first audio signal and the second audio signal.
