An ink jet recording aqueous pigment ink contains a self-dispersing pigment, a quaternary amino acid, a non-polymeric, nonionic material having a melting point of 40&#xb0; C. or more, and at least one of trialkylamine and trialkanolamine. The content of the non-polymeric, nonionic material is 3% to 15% by mass relative to the total mass of the ink jet recording aqueous pigment ink.

The present invention provides a toner which can properly ensure elasticity and viscosity after transiting fixing nip, can improve surface smoothness of the fixing surface, fixing strength of a toner and transparency, low temperature fixing ability, and can prevent fattening of characters by using dynamic viscoelastic characteristics more conformable for actual toner behavior in fixation by heating, further provides an image-forming apparatus capable of forming a high quality image while enhancing low temperature fixing ability, realizing oil-less fixation and preventing offset of a toner.

Also disclosed are a toner obtained by a process comprising the steps of: kneading a composition containing a binder resin, a colorant and a charge control agent comprising an ionic or neutral substance supported by an inorganic porous material; pulverizing the kneaded product; adding the pulverized product to a solvent immiscible with water; dispersing the mixture in an aqueous medium; and removing the solvent by at least one of heating and pressure reduction, and a toner comprising associated particles formed from: primary particles obtained from an emulsion of a binder resin; a colorant; and a charge control agent comprising a water soluble charge control substance incorporated in inorganic fine particles.
