The present invention relates to a stable, aqueous odor-absorbing composition, preferably for use on inanimate surfaces. The composition comprises from about 0.1% to about 20%, by weight of the composition, of solubilized, water-soluble, uncomplexed cyclodextrin and an effective amount of at least one ingredient to improve the performance of the composition selected from the group consisting of: (1) cyclodextrin compatible surfactant; (2) cyclodextrin compatible antimicrobial active; and (3) mixtures thereof. Hydrophilic perfume improves acceptance. Optionally, the composition can contain low molecular weight polyols; metallic salts to help control odor; a humectant, etc. The composition is essentially free of any material that would soil or stain fabric. The composition is preferably applied as small particle size droplets, especially from spray containers. The cyclodextrin/surfactant combination, either alone, or in combination with the other ingredients, provides improved antimicrobial activity.

Toilet bowl detergent compositions, preferably blocks of the 'in-tank' or 'rim-block' types, contain from about 0.1% to about 10% of a blooming perfume composition comprising blooming perfume ingredients selected from the group consisting of: ingredients having a boiling point of less than about 260.degree. C. and a ClogP of at least about 3, and wherein said perfume composition comprises at least 5 different blooming perfume ingredients, a cleaning system comprising: detergent surfactant preferably of the amphoteric type, more preferably zwitterionic, even more preferably one that contains a carboxylate group and a cationic group, and even more preferably a fatty acid amidoalkylene betaine, and detergent builder, preferably polycarboxylate chelating agent, more preferably, citric acid, or similar polycarboxylic acid, are combined with some means of creating the desired concentration of the cleaning system in the toilet bowl water, preferably by means of blocks with a dissolution retarding system, preferably with the dissolution retarding system comprising a combination of water soluble cellulosic polymer, more preferably hydroxyethyl cellulose or hydroxypropyl cellulose and, polyethylene glycol containing polymer, any perfume present optionally being contained in a protective carrier. The compositions have a pH, in use, of from about 2 to about 11 and the blocks are preferably extremely homogeneous.

Toilet bowl detergent system containing blooming perfume

Uncomplexed cyclodextrin compositions for odor and wrinkle control

Cleaning compositions with short chain nonionic surfactants

Process for using detergent compositions comprising a surfactant system that is either (1) a mixture of nonionic and zwitterionic detergent surfactants; (2) a mixture of nonionic and amphoteric (non-zwitterionic) detergent surfactants, preferably; or (3) short chain nonionic detergent surfactant, the nonionic detergent surfactants preferably being short chain and/or having peaked distribution; optional hydrophobic cleaning solvent; and polycarboxylate, especially dicarboxylate, detergent builder provide superior cleaning of all of the soils commonly found in the bathroom. The compositions have a pH of from about 1 to about 5.5, preferably from about 2 to about 4 when the dicarboxylate builder is used. The compositions are in the form of aqueous liquids. Short chain peaked distribution nonionic detergent suffactants provide surprisingly superior sudsing characteristics.

Process for using acidic liquid detergent compositions to clean bathrooms

Acidic liquid detergent compositions for bathrooms

Detergent compositions comprising a surfactant system that is either (1) a mixture of zwitterionic detergent surfactant and/or amphoteric (non-zwitterionic) detergent surfactant with nonionic detergent surfactant; or (2) short chain nonionic detergent surfactant; a suds reducing amount of a suds controlling alkoxylated material of the formula: C.sub.n (PO).sub.x (EO).sub.y (PO).sub.z in which C.sub.n is a hydrocarbon group containing n carbon atoms, n is a number from about 6 to about 12, x is a number from about 1 to about 6, y is a number from about 4 to about 15, and z is a number from about 4 to about 25; optional, but preferred, hydrophobic cleaning solvent; and polycarboxylate, especially dicarboxylate, detergent builder, provide superior cleaning of all of the soils commonly found in the bathroom while maintaining a desirable low suds profile and good rinsing properties. The compositions have a pH of from about 1 to about 5.5, preferably from about 2 to about 4 when the dicarboxylate builder is used. The compositions are in the form of aqueous liquids.

Toilet bowl detergent compositions, preferably blocks of the 'in-tank' or 'rim-block' types, contain a cleaning system comprising: detergent surfactant of the amphoteric type, preferably zwitterionic, more preferably one that contains a carboxylate group and a cationic group, and even more preferably a fatty acid amidoalkylene betainc, and polycarboxylate chelating agent, preferably, citric acid, or similar polycarboxylic acid, are combined with some means of creating the desired concentration of the cleaning system in the toilet bowl water, preferably by means of blocks with a dissolution retarding system, preferably with the dissolution retarding system comprising a combination of water soluble cellulosic polymer, more preferably hydroxyethyl cellulose or hydroxypropyl cellulose and, polyethylene glycol containing polymer, any perfume present being selected to be mostly hydrophobic. The compositions have a pH, in use, of from about 4 to about 9 and the blocks are preferably extremely homogeneous. Processes for keeping toilet bowls clean are disclosed.
