A drill bit has a shank portion having a plurality of SDS-type slots, a cutting portion comprising at least one cutting flute, and an intermediate portion connecting the shank to the cutting portion, the intermediate portion including at least one longitudinal slot. A depth gauge includes a body configured to receive the drill bit, a retention mechanism coupled to the body and having an inward projection to removably couple the body to the at least one additional slot in the drill bit, and a cap coupled to the body such that the cap contacts a workpiece surface to prevent the drill bit from entering the workpiece more than a predetermined depth, wherein the cap is movable relative to the body among a plurality of positions, wherein each of the plurality of positions corresponds to a different predetermined drilling depth.

A combination drill bit for use in both hand held drills and stationary drill presses has a shanking end, a working end and a helical flute portion between the shanking and working ends. A holesaw mandrel assembly has a mandrel body with a first end to be coupled with a drill motor and a second end extending from the body. The second end receives a holesaw. The first member is positioned on the second end. The first member is axially movable on the second end. A friction surface is on the first member. The friction surface is adapted to contact a base surface of the holesaw such that upon contact with the friction surface, the holesaw is fixed in position. The friction surface moves between a first contact position and a second release position. A mechanism on the first member moves the friction surface between the first and second position.

A holesaw mandrel assembly has a mandrel body with a first end to be coupled with a drill motor and a second end extending from the body. The second end receives a holesaw. A housing covers a portion of the mandrel. A first member is coupled with the housing and moves between a first and second position. A friction surface is on the first member. The friction surface is adapted to contact the holesaw such that upon contact with the friction surface, the holesaw is fixed in position. The friction surface moves between a first contact position and a second release position. A mechanism coupled with the housing moves the friction face between the first and second positions.

A hole saw has a cup shaped body with a base, and a cylindrical wall with an extending cutting edge. An arbor extends from base. A plurality of teeth are formed on the cutting edge. The teeth having a repeating first and second tooth form. The first tooth form has a rake face and relief face defining the cutting edge. The rake face and relief face are at a desired angle. A first gullet is continuous with the first rake face so that it has a desired depth. The second tooth form has a second rake face and second relief face. The faces are on a desired angle. A second gullet is continuous with the second rake face providing a second tooth height. The second tooth height is greater than the first tooth height.

A holesaw mandrel assembly has a mandrel with a first shanking end, a body, and a second extending end which includes a threaded spud to receive a holesaw. A first member is secured on the second end. The first member is axially slidable on the second end. The first member also includes a friction surface to contact the holesaw. The friction surface moves between a first contacting position and a second release position. A mechanism on the mandrel moves the friction surface between the first and second positions.

A storage case allows access to the accessories therein regardless of the length of the accessories. The case may be telescopic such that the length of the case may be adjusted to store accessories of various lengths and to facilitate the access to these accessories. The storage case may have fixed dimensions with a slidably removable wall that allows easy access to the accessories stored therein. The present invention provides a method and apparatus for forming a plurality of parts, such as spade-type boring bits, from a continuous stock material. Thus, the various steps of the forming method of the present invention can be performed to predetermined portions of the continuous stock material prior to separating the continuous stock material into discrete parts, thereby enhancing the efficiency of the forming process. The present invention also provides an improved forge for forming portions of the continuous stock material into parts having a predetermined shape. The forge can be designed to provide a clearance region proximate the forward end of the ram to permit slight flexing of the forward end of the ram in a radially outward direction during forging operations. The forge can also include a lubrication system for lubricating its various components. In addition, the forge can incrementally rotate the ram after one or more parts have been forged. By repeating the incremental rotation of the ram, the forge will eventually rotate the ram a full 360&#xb0;. An improved forging die is also provided which includes a back surface having a conical medial section and a pair of conical lateral sections that are recessed relative to the medial section such that forces will principally be applied to the medial section during forging operations.

Method and apparatus for forming parts from a continuous stock material and associated forge

An installation jig has a body member and a clamping mechanism. The clamping mechanism along with the body are clamped onto a door. The body includes a plurality of walls with one wall having an aperture enabling passage of a tool which may drill a hole into a door at a desired standard lock set size. Also, the body includes an aperture to enable a lock bolt hole to be drilled into the door at a plurality of standard door thickness.
