Method and apparatus for automatically enhancing the foliage display of a color signal includes providing the color signal in multiplexed form having alternating first and second components, the first component being substantially aligned with a flesh tone color space axis, the second component being substantialy aligned with a green tone color space axis. A de-multiplexing unit separates the first and second components to provide a first de-multiplexed component substantially aligned with the flesh tone axis and a second de-multiplexed component substantially aligned with the green tone axis. A processing unit generates from the de-multiplexed components a green tone enhancement control signal for increasing green tone contrast of the color signal; and a modifying unit modifies the magnitude of the multiplexed color signal by applying the multiplexed color signal and the green tone enhancement control signal to a multiplier to provide a modified multiplexed output signal at an output having enhanced foliage contrast. In an examplary embodiment, the green enhancement control signal and a flesh tone enhancement control signal are applied to a common multiplier thereby advantageously providing both flesh tone and foliage enhancement with an absolute minimum of circuitry for the combined functions.

Method and apparatus for enhancing green contrast of a color video signal

A video display deflection circuit includes a source of a video signal for displaying picture information contained in the video signal in a screen of a cathode ray tube. The video signal on-provides selectively an on-screen-display information and a non-screen-display information. A source of a first control signal has a first value, when the video signal provides on-screen-display information and a second value, when said video signal provides non- on-screen-display information. A comb filter responsive to the first control signal has selectively a first delay element, when the first control signal is at the first value and a second delay element, when the first control signal is at the second value. The filter selectively establishes, in accordance with the first value, a first frequency response characteristic and, in accordance with the second value, a second frequency response characteristic. The filter is responsive to a video signal for generating from the video signal a filtered correction signal having a frequency spectrum in accordance with the values of the first control signal. The correction signal is coupled to an auxiliary deflection winding to produce, in accordance therewith, scan velocity modulated deflection of the electron beam.

Video signal processing arrangement for scan velocity modulation circuit

A video display deflection circuit includes a source of a video signal for displaying picture information contained in the video signal in a screen of a cathode ray tube. The video signal provides selectively on-screen-display information and non-on-screen-display information. A source of a first control signal has a first value, when the video signal provides on-screen-display information and a second value, when said video signal provides non-on-screen-display information. A waveform generator is responsive to the first control signal for generating a second signal at a frequency that is related to a deflection frequency having a first waveform, when the video signal provides on-screen-display information, and a second waveform, that is different from the first waveform, when the video signal provides non-on-screen-display information. A modulator generates a modulated correction signal by modulating, in accordance with the second signal, a time-derivative signal produced from the video signal, The correction signal is coupled to a scan velocity modulation winding to produce scan velocity modulated deflection of the electron beam.

Scan velocity modulation circuit with multi-mode operation

A video display deflection circuit includes a source of a periodic, first signal that varies in accordance with a position of an electron beam on a screen of a cathode ray tube. A limiter is responsive to the first signal for generating a second signal having a limited, piece-wise linearized first portion, when the first signal is outside a range of values. The second signal has a second portion that varies, when the first signal varies within the range of values. A modulator is responsive to the second signal and to a video signal for generating a modulated correction signal coupled to an auxiliary deflection winding to produce, in accordance therewith, scan velocity modulated deflection of the electron beam.

Piece-wise linearized waveform generator for scan velocity modulation circuit

In a quadrature FM detector, demodulation is performed by a product detector which multiplies an amplitude limited FM modulated information signal by a version of the amplitude limited FM modulated information signal which has been phase shifted by a phase shifting network including a single tuned LC circuit. In order to assure that the LC circuit is tuned to the carrier frequency of the FM signal, the LC circuit is tuned by a variable impedance device in response to a control signal generated by a bus controlled DAC. The control signal is coupled to the variable impedance device at the same pin of an integrated circuit where the LC circuit is coupled to the demodulator.
