A universal analog cell that has electronic circuits that can be configured with a processor using a program designed for connection to one or more of a large range of various sensor and actuator types. The cell may have just a few terminals, for example four terminals, that can be configured for a wide range of components. A sensor or actuator which inherently requires several terminals may be implemented using all the terminals of the cell, but the cell may also support multiple input or output features as long as each of these features requires less than all terminals of the cell.

Universal analog cell for connecting the inputs and outputs of devices

A system and approach for addressing modules on a platform bus that may incorporate a master module and one or more slave modules. The platform bus may run through sub-base connectors that interlock modules together on a rail. Addressing of the modules may occur automatically and dynamically in that the master module may have a first address by default, and a first slave module adjoining the master module may be assigned a second address. A second slave module adjoining the first slave module, if there is one, may be assigned a third address. Each of the other slave modules, adjoining a preceding slave module assigned an address, may be assigned a next address after an address assigned to a preceding slave module. Addresses may be assigned in a numerical order to each module based on a physical position of the respective module on a rail.

Module auto addressing in platform bus

A modular flame amplifier system having a base module, a burner control and one or more flame amplifier modules connected to the burner control. One or more sensors may be connected to the one or more flame amplifier modules. Some of the flame amplifiers may be a long distance from the burner control module. Some of the flame amplifiers may be connected to the burner control via a cable. The connection between some of the flame amplifiers and the respective sensors may be less noise tolerant than the long cable connection between the one or more flame amplifiers and the burner control. One or more flame amplifiers may be mounted on the same rail as the burner control or another rail remote from the burner control. Two or more sensors may be connected in one or more of several configurations along with delay in some configurations.

Modular flame amplifier system with remote sensing

A system for providing one or more voltages at predetermined magnitudes. The system may be supplied with power having a range of voltage magnitudes without affecting the predetermined magnitudes of the one or more voltages provided by the system and without a need to change circuitry of the system. The system may be connected, for example, from 28 VDC to 250 VAC without affecting the predetermined magnitudes of the output voltage or voltages. This system is protected from a mistaken power hook-up thought to be for 28 VDC but actually being connected to 250 VAC, which could be a disaster for a system not having the present circuitry. The system may be used for supplying power for opto-couplers in relay detection and other applications. The system may incorporate lightning and reverse polarity protection, reference and regulated voltages, an output driver, and input isolation circuitry.

Universal opto-coupled voltage system

A device for measuring the position of an element utilizing a linear variable differential transducer. The primary of the transducer is excited by using a single pulse, causing an induced pulse to be created at the secondary coil. The induced pulse is compensated for the effects of distortion. The induced pulse is sampled and compared with the input pulse to determine the amount of attenuation caused by the transducer, from which the position of an element attached to the transducer can be calculated.

Pulsed excitation position sensor system using linear variable

A position measurement device using a variable differential transducer. The primary of the transducer is supplied with a triangular pulse causing a similar pulse to be produced at the transducer secondary. The induced pulse is then compared with a constant reference voltage. Due to the triangular shape of the induced pulse, the time that the induced pulse is greater than the reference voltage is indicative of the magnitude of that pulse. The time period is then counted and communicated to subsequent devices.
