The present invention provides a unitary run flat tire (RFT) reinforcement using filament material that is formed into a relatively rigid shape. The reinforcement is insertable into a mold for an RFT support and can maintain the needed structural rigidity for such insertion. Further, the invention provides an RFT support that is molded and includes the RFT reinforcement. The invention also provides a wheel assembly including a tire, a rim, and an RFT support between the rim and the tire, where the support includes the RFT reinforcement. The RFT support can have a colored indicator formed or subsequently applied thereto to indicate one or more attributes of the support.

Method of manufacturing a filament formed reinforcement member and a run flat tire support therewith

The present invention provides a unitary run flat tire (RFT) reinforcement that is formed into a relatively rigid shape. Run flat tire support and colorant therefor

An aqueous dispersed polymeric composition for preparing the spill resistant carpet backing is provided. The aqueous dispersed polymeric composition of the present invention comprises an aqueous dispersed polymeric material, an inorganic filler, and a hydrophobic compound selected from the group consisting of a hydrophobic acid, a salt of a hydrophobic acid, and mixtures thereof. Alternatively, the inorganic filler is pretreated with the hydrophobic compound. Also, a kit and a method for preparing a spill resistant carpet backing from the aqueous dispersed polymeric composition is provided.

Disclosed are stable aqueous polyurethane latexes prepared from prepolymer formulations including a polyisocyanate component and polyol component, wherein from 5 to 40 percent of the weight of the polyol component is ethylene oxide in the form of ethylene oxide applied as an end cap onto a propylene oxide or higher oxyalkylene polyoxyalkylene polyol, and no more than 45 percent of the weight of polyol component is ethylene oxide. These latexes are prepared without the use of organic solvents.

An aqueous dispersed polymeric composition for preparing a carpet backing is provided. The aqueous dispersed polymeric composition comprises an aqueous dispersed polymeric material and a hydrophobically-modified ethylene-oxide-based urethane block copolymer. In the preferred embodiment, the aqueous dispersed polymeric material is an aqueous polyurethane dispersion composition. Moreover, a method for preparing a carpet backing using the aqueous dispersed polymeric composition is provided.

Claimed is a substrate having a polar surface and, adherent thereto, a polyurethane polymer which was applied as a latex. The latexes of the present invention are chain extended in water with aminoethyl ethanolamine and are prepared and applied in the substantial absence of organic solvents. The prepolymers used to prepare the latexes are substantially free ionic groups on the polymer backbone.

Process for coating substrates having polar surfaces with polyurethane latexes

The present invention is polyurethane dispersion composition that can be mechanically frothed to yield a foam that has good resiliency. Frothed foams of the present invention can be useful in cushioned flooring applications such as attached cushion broadloom, carpet tiles, carpet underlay, or vinyl flooring. Frothed foams of the present invention can also be useful as coatings for various textiles and for diapers.

Polyurethane foams prepared from mechanically frothed polyurethane dispersions

A polyurethane/urea/thiourea latex having a narrow molecular weight polydispersity and sub-micron particle size can be prepared by first preparing a high solids (between about 65% and 74% solids) latex of a polyurethane/urea/thiourea prepolymer, then contacting the emulsion with a chain-extending reagent under such conditions to form the polymer latex.
