Methods, systems, and computer program products for providing voicemail routing information in a network that provides customized voicemail services are disclosed. According to one method, a voicemail routing query is received at an advanced voicemail routing node, where the query includes at least one parameter associated with a voicemail transaction. Based on at least one query parameter, voicemail routing information may be determined that identifies a voicemail server and a voicemail service from among a plurality of voicemail servers, where at least some of the voicemail servers provide different services. A voicemail routing query response may then be generated including the determined voicemail routing information.

Methods systems, and computer program products for providing voicemail routing information in a network that provides customized voicemail services

A filtering and application triggering platform may be implemented on a signaling message routing node to decode signaling messages and increase efficiency in subsequent processing of the signaling message. A communications link module on a signaling message routing node receives a signaling message. A first filtering and application triggering module associated with the communication link module extracts predetermined parameters from the signaling message and generates a decode key based on the parameters. The first filtering and application triggering module applies a first triggering rule to the decode key and determines whether to forward or drop the message. If the first filtering and application triggering module determines that the message should be forwarded, the first filtering and application triggering module forwards the message to another processing module within the signaling message routing node. The decode key is forwarded along with the message. The next processing module may extract additional parameters from the message, add the parameters to the decode key, and apply a triggering rule to the modified decode key.

A method for screening mobile application part (MAP) messages in a transit network is provided. Signaling messages are received from a first network. SCCP called party address information is extracted from each signaling message. If the called party address matches first SCCP screening criteria, it is determined whether the signaling message is a targeted MAP message type. If the signaling message is a targeted MAP message type, a screening action is performed. Different MAP screening criteria may be applied for different destination networks.

Disclosed is a mobility management routing (MMR) node that performs location management signaling operations associated with mobile subscribers. The MMR node may also perform the signaling message routing functionality typically provided by a network routing node, such as a signaling system 7 (SS7) signal transfer point (STP) or an SS7-over-Internet protocol signaling gateway (SG). The MMR node caches mobile subscriber information extracted from messages transmitted between an HLR and a VLR and responds to some of the messages using the cached information. As a result, signaling message traffic and call setup time in a mobile communications network are reduced.

Methods, systems, and computer program products for automatically provisioning prepaid mobile subscriber information in a telecommunications network are provided. In one method, a location management message regarding a prepaid mobile subscriber is received at a routing node. The routing node determines whether a routing address translation entry exists for the prepaid mobile subscriber. If a routing address translation entry does not exist, the routing node sends a notification message to a provisioning system. The provisioning system receives the notification message and provisions an HLR with subscription information for the subscriber. The provisioning system also sends routing address translation information to the routing node for provisioning an entry in the routing address translation database for the subscriber. The routing node may then either route the original location management message to the HLR or discard the original message and wait until the MSC retransmits the location management message.

A short message service (SMS) flood control routing node includes an SMS flood control module that receives short message service messages, determines the presence of short message service flooding, and takes appropriate action, such as discarding short message service messages that result in flooding. The presence of short message service message flooding may be determined by maintaining a count of short message service messages addressed to a particular called party within a time period. If the count exceeds a threshold, the short message service message that caused the count to exceed the threshold may be discarded. The routing node may generate a message the originator of a short message service message flood and/or to an enforcement agency.

A method for universal, automatic service selection includes receiving signaling messages and identifying signaling connection control part (SCCP) messages from the signaling messages. The SCCP messages are decoded to extract SCCP parameters and application layer parameters from the messages. A routing address translation service is selected for each of the SCCP messages based on application identifiers that identify application layer message types alone or in combination with other parameters. Selecting the routing address translation service in this manner makes the service selection more robust and universally applicable, especially in networks where different or non-standard selector parameters are utilized.

Methods and systems for triggerless mobile group dialing are disclosed. A method for triggerless mobile group dialing includes intercepting call signaling messages that contain mobile dialing codes. For these call signaling messages, a mobile dialing group ID is determined based on the calling party address in the mobile call signaling messages if the mobile call signaling messages contain calling party addresses. The mobile dialing group ID and the mobile dialing code are used together to determine a full called party address for each of the signaling messages. In lieu of using a mobile dialing group ID, a method is also presented for directly associating combinations of full E.164 calling party address digits and mobile dialing codes to full E.164 called party address digits. The full called party address is inserted in each of the signaling messages and each message is routed to its intended destination.

A signaling message processing and routing node transmits and receives short message service (SMS) data packets via a communications network. A routing node communicates between subscribers of different application-layer mobile communications protocols, such as IS-41 and GSM, without converting each IS-41 message to GSM and vice versa. Rather than converting each message to the protocol of the intended recipient, the routing node functions as an HLR to provide the location of a mobile subscriber in a different application-layer mobile communications protocol and as an MSC to forward short message service messages to a short message service center of the other application-layer mobile communications protocol.
