An articulating slanted back soft top assembly for 4-door and 2-door SUVs. A fabric cover is supported by a frame that is at least partially articulatable from at least a closed position to at least one open air position. The frame includes at least one forward fabric support bow member and at least one rearward fabric support bow member. The rear fabric support bow member being positioned when in the closed position in a manner which allows the fabric to clear a sport bar or 'roll bar' member of a vehicle in the closed position such that a rear portion of the top is angled from the vertical when viewing the vehicle from the side.

An articulating slanted back soft top assembly for-door and-door SUVs. A tonneau cover assembly with a top cover connected to a cable tensioning system that eliminates the need for side rails to both locate and tension the top cover. The cable tension system seals out environmental elements and holds the tonneau cover and fabric management bows of the assembly in place. The assembly includes a front attachment assembly and rear attachment assembly connected to cables, where the front attachment provides a forward mounting location and seals a front bow to the vehicle. The rear attachment assembly holds the top cover in a closed tensioned state until the cover is opened by an operator. The tonneau cover assembly reduces weight and complexity, while eliminating the need for side rails.

The present invention is a serviceable fabric assembly for a convertible roof of a motor vehicle having a retainer connected to a fabric cover and slidably engaged within a channel formed in a first bow member. The first bow member has an upper panel and a lower panel configured to form the channel substantially along the longitudinal length of the first bow member. The channel is configured to laterally receive a compressible portion of the retainer which prevents the retainer from exiting the channel in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis of the first bow member. A gap is formed near at least one end of the channel on the outboard side of the channel and is sized such that an operator can slide the retainer out of the channel through the gap for servicing and replacing the fabric cover without having to disassemble the first bow member.

Serviceable fabric assembly for convertible of a motor vehicle

A convertible soft top for a vehicle includes a foldable, collapsible frame and a fabric attached to it. The frame has front and rear bow members with the rear bow member mounted for rotation about a first, fixed axis. The front bow member is pivotally mounted to the side legs of the rear bow member for movement about a second axis spaced from the first axis. The front bow member can be moved with the rear bow member about the fixed axis and also pivotally moved relative to the rear bow member about the second axis. Other features of the top include a sunroof and supporting structure to facilitate its operation and an arrangement to automatically secure the front bow member to the vehicle door frame as the top is moved to its raised position.

Convertible soft top for a sport utility or similar vehicle

A removable header for a soft top or similar accessory for a sport utility vehicle. The header has a main body that is releasably securable to the vehicle windshield using just clamps. The header also includes short extensions on each side of the main body that extend rearwardly of it. In use, the extensions abut portions of the safety bar arrangement immediately adjacent the windshield of the vehicle and prevent the header from rotating beyond a predetermined position relative to the windshield.
