A luminaire is disclosed comprising an optical stack () transparent to radio waves, the optical stack comprising a first surface () including a light exit window () and a further surface () opposing the first surface, the optical stack including a planar light guide () having a first major surface facing or defining the first surface, an opposing second major surface facing or defining the further surface and at least one edge surface () extending between said opposing first and second major surfaces; and a frame () around the optical stack, the frame carrying at least one light source () optically coupled to one or more of said edge surfaces of the light guide, wherein the frame delimits the light exit window and an exposed portion () of the further surface opposing the light exit window, said light exit window and the exposed portion delimiting a conduit () for said radio waves through the optical stack.

Light guide-based luminaire

A modular ceiling kit comprising a luminaire arrangement and a mounting frame () is disclosed. The luminaire arrangement has a luminaire () with a first light exit window () framed by a rim (). The mounting frame () has an aperture () for receiving the luminaire (). The luminaire arrangement also has a component () that is mountable in between the mounting frame () and the luminaire (). The component () has a first light exit window () framed by a rim (). The invention provides a fixture element () for mounting a luminaire () at least partly in an opening () of a ceiling (), wherein the fixture element () comprises (i) a body (), (ii) a first side portion () protruding relative to the body () at a first side () of the body () and configured to support the luminaire (), (iii) a second side portion () protruding relative to the body () at a second side () of the body (), and (iv) an engagement element () resiliently connected to the second side () of the body () and configured to clamp a part of the ceiling () between the engagement element () and the second side portion ().

Ceiling interface for luminaires

A primary optic for a light-emitting diode or device (LED) includes a tilted wedge atop a truncated compound parabolic concentrator (CPC). The CPC includes an input face and a lower exterior surface defined by a tilted parabolic segment rotated about an axis. The bottom end of the lower exterior surface joins the perimeter of the input face. The tilted wedge includes an upper exterior surface above the lower exterior surface, and an interior conical surface surrounded by the lower and the upper exterior surfaces. The upper exterior surface is defined by a tilted straight line rotated about the axis. The interior conical surface is defined by a smooth curve rotated about the axis. The interior conical surface has a vertex located at the axis and within the lower exterior surface. The top ends of the interior conical surface and the upper exterior surface join to define an output aperture.

Switchable high color contrast lighting

The invention provides a sheet-like light collector device comprising a light receiving side and a light exit side, and a plurality of curved structures of light guiding material comprising an organic dye configured to absorb at least part of the light of a light source and to convert at least part of the absorbed light into converted light in the visible wavelength range. Each curved structure has a convex curved part at the light receiving side, a concave part at the light exit side, and a light exit edge part at the light exit side. Each curved structure has a curvature and light guide thickness configured to facilitate transport of incoupled light and the visible converted light in the direction of the light exit edge part to provide device light escaping from the light exit edge part.
