There is provided an ultrasonic bridge for ultrasonic-based wireless communication. For example, there is provided an ultrasonic bridge that includes a microphone configured to transduce an ultrasound into an analog voltage. The ultrasonic bridge further includes hardware configured to convert the analog voltage to digital information. The ultrasonic further includes a transceiver configured to send the digital information wirelessly to a remote device via one of an RF link and a light-based link.

Provided is a method and a system for multi-channel acoustic communication and sensing. For example, there is provided a system that includes a processor and a memory. The processor, when executing instructions from the memory, can perform certain operations. The operations can include classifying a motion detected near an ultrasonic receiver based on a Doppler shift observed in a signal measured by the ultrasonic receiver. The classifying can further include detecting a side lobe in a power spectrum of the signal to indicate that the motion has been detected.

A new apparatus, system, method and a computer readable memory are presented for lighting control using active wireless active feedback monitoring of behavioral activity of moving objects, for lighting control in an area of interest using, for example, a time dependence of a received signal strength parameter (RSSP) and a calculated standard deviation of the RSSP. Presence of moving objects (such as humans, pets/animals, cars and the like) within the range of an established wireless network tends to modulate the wireless signal strength between wireless nodes. Using the monitored variation in the standard deviation of the wireless signal strength between network nodes, behavioral activity of moving objects may be used to directly control ambient lighting conditions such as luminaire lumen output, color temperature, light distribution, and/or other lighting characteristics, based upon the level of behavioral activity of moving objects within an area of interest.

Wireless behavioral feedback for active lighting control

An edge lit luminaire includes a light source. A housing has an interior cavity for receiving the light source. The housing includes a heat sink for directing heat away from the light source. At least one optional end cap is secured to an end of the housing that covers the cavity. A lightguide is secured inside the housing and has an edge located in proximity to the light source. At least one of a reflector and a lens (e.g., lens optic) directs light from the light source to the edge of the lightguide. The lightguide includes a light extraction surface enabling light to be transmitted from the lightguide. The housing can also feature a channel and slot for mounting the luminaire to a support surface. The lens optic can be designed to have specific dimensions that facilitate efficient design and operation of the luminaire.
