A surgical grasping device is disclosed. The surgical grasping device may comprise a clevis; a first jaw member pivotably coupled to the clevis; a second jaw member pivotably coupled to the clevis; and an actuating mechanism coupled to the clevis, the first jaw member and the second jaw member and a translating member coupled to and extending proximally from the actuating mechanism. The actuating mechanism may be configured to cause the first jaw member and the second jaw member to close in response to a first proximally directed force received via the translating member. The actuating mechanism may also be configured to cause the first jaw member and the second jaw member to open in response to a subsequent proximally directed force received via the translating member.

Surgical grasping device

A medical apparatus and method useful for positioning one or more members within the gastro-intestinal tract is disclosed. The sheath can be provided with texture on an inside surface to facilitate installation of the endoscope in the sheath, and to permit the endoscope to be gripped through the sheath.

Sheath for use with an endoscope

A medical apparatus and method useful for positioning a device, such as an endcap, on an end of an endoscope, is disclosed. The apparatus can exert a pulling force on the endoscope through the endcap while a pushing force is applied to the endcap. The apparatus can be used to press an endcap onto the distal end of an endoscope without grasping by hand a sheath in those applications where the endoscope is disposed in a sheath.

Apparatus useful for positioning a device on an endoscope

An intubation system is provided for use with an endoscope. The intubation system includes a guide apparatus having a track that is adapted to be associated with the endoscope such that bending of the track is substantially decoupled from bending of the endoscope. The intubation system also includes a positioning device having a first coupling member on the distal end and an intubation device having a second coupling member on the proximal end. The intubation device and the positioning device each include a mating member that is adapted to slidingly engage the track external of the endoscope, whereby the first and second coupling members may be releasably attached together.

Intubation system for use with an endoscope

An intubation device is provided for use with a guide apparatus having a track that is adapted to be associated with an endoscope such that bending of the track is substantially decoupled from bending of the endoscope. The intubation device includes an elongated, flexible tube and a mating member attached to the tube and adapted to slidingly engage the track external of the endoscope. The intubation device further includes a tissue bolster disposed on the proximal portion of the tube and changeable between a collapsed and an expanded configuration. The tube is positionable inside the upper gastrointestinal tract of a patient such that the proximal end of the tube is externalized through the gastric and abdominal walls of the patient, and wherein the tissue bolster is securable against the inner gastric wall when the tissue bolster is in the expanded configuration.

Intubation device for enteral feeding

A method for positioning a device, such as an endcap, on an endoscope is disclosed. The method can be used, for example, for facilitating pressing an endcap onto an endoscope, including in those applications where the endscope is disposed in a sheath and the endcap is positioned at the distal end of the sheath.

A medical apparatus and method useful for positioning one or more members within the gastro-intestinal tract is disclosed. The medical apparatus can include a track supported on a sheath sized to receive an endoscope, and a carrier slidable with respect to the track. A feeding tube accessory adapted to slidably engage the carrier is disclosed.

A biopsy marker introduction assembly is configured for introduction through a specimen retrieval recess into a probe cutter lumen of a handheld breast biopsy handle. Advancing the cutter causes an extending deployment rod to distally translate within an introducer tube of the introduction assembly, pushing a biopsy marker out of a distal end of the probe at a surgical biopsy site. Thereby, the surgeon is able to position the probe and effect deployment of the marker even if using the other hand to position an imaging device such as an ultrasonic transceiver.

A multiple clip applier includes a handle portion and a pair of handles pivotably connected to opposite sides of the housing. A shaft extends from the housing and has a plurality of clips located within. A pair of opposed moveable jaws are attached to and extend from the distal end of the shaft. The jaws receive one of the clips serially when they are open and form the clip received serially when they close. A moveable forming mechanism is operatively connected to the handles by a pair of forming links. As the handles close, the forming mechanism closes the jaws to form the clip received therein, and as the handles are opened, the forming mechanism opens the jaws to receive another clip therein . A feeding mechanism is provided that has a moveable feed plate attached to the handles by a pair of feed links. The feed plate is releasably coupled to a clip pusher. As the handles are closed, the clip pusher remains stationary and uncoupled with the moving feed plate. As the handles are opened, the clip pusher is operatively coupled to the feed plate and moves to place one of the clips into the jaws.
