A modular electric motor. The modular motor includes a plurality of mechanically and electrically coupleable stator sections and mechanically coupleable housing sections. At least one stator section has conductors extending longitudinally therethrough for generating a magnetic field to impart rotative motion in a rotor. A given motor may be assembled to a variety of desired lengths by mechanically and electrically coupling the appropriate number of motor sections. This facilitates construction of a desired horsepower motor for a given application.

Modular motor and housing

A modular electric motor for use in a wellbore. The modular motor includes a plurality of modular motor sections. The modular motor sections being mechanically and electrically coupleable. At least one modular motor section having a rotor. The rotor of one modular motor section having a rotor being drivingly coupleable to the rotor of a second modular motor section having a rotor. Thus, a given motor may be assembled to a variety of desired lengths by connecting the appropriate number of modular motor sections.

Field configurable modular motor

A system for pumping and heating viscous fluids in a wellbore includes electrical power supplies, a switchboard, conductors, and a submergible pumping system having a pump and a submergible electric motor. The electrical power supplies are coupled to the submergible pumping system through a switchboard and conductors that supply electrical power to the motor. The electrical power supplies provide direct or alternating current and include protective circuitry. The submergible pumping system may be supplied with electrical power to motor stator windings to generate heat to raise the temperature and lower the viscosity of adjacent viscous fluids.
