This invention relates to methods for producing cycloheptatriene from at least 7,7-dichloronorcarane and a liquid component comprising a Cto Csuccinic anhydride, a carboxylic acid, or a Cto Calkyldimethylamine at about 205 deg. C. to about 230 deg. C.

Methods for producing cycloheptatriene

A process for the preparation of organic acid halide such as acetyl chloride by reacting an organic acid anhydride with a silicon halide, such as silicon tetrachloride, under conditions such that such the organic acid halide is produced along with silica which is easily separated and disposed of. Preferred conditions include use of a solvent, use of a catalyst and additional process reaction steps whereby by-products are converted to additional organic acid halide and easily disposable waste products.

Process for preparation of organic acid halide

A process is disclosed for producing alkyl sulfonates by the addition of bisulfite ions to olefinic double bonds. In the process, ammonium, or alkali metal bisulfite and olefins having from about 8 to about 30 carbon atoms per molecule are reacted in the presence of lower alkanol having from 2 to about 4 carbon atoms, water and a reaction initiating agent.
